SUMMARY:Photography Exhibition | Stillness in Motion at Creative Macau
DESCRIPTION:Taiji is one of the elements that features the exhibition – Stillness in Motion\, martial arts are good at motion with an extreme motion that uses stillness to control softness and counteract hardness in all aspects to achieve balance. Capturing motion paths of the dancers through time and space\, from a tri-dimensional reality into a still bi-dimensional image\, yet full of energy and life\, is a wonderful challenge. \nFrom colours\, lighting\, dance formation\, the beauty of movements and music\, moved and inspired Agostinho Fernandes in creating a unique visual language. Depending on the choreography\, the sense of dancing motion\, rhythm and mood are beautifully illustrated by slowing down the exposure time\, or by moving the camera when the scene is still. \nWhen: 6:30pm—8:30pm\, Thursday\, June 28 \nWhere: Creative Macau – Center for Creative Industries\, G/F Macau Cultural Centre Building\, Xian Xing Hai Avenue \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, please call +853 2875 3282 visit their Facebook page

SUMMARY:In Love with Macao – Calligraphy and Paintings of Macao
DESCRIPTION:Being one of the earliest points for China’s exchanges with the West\, Macau has always been a place where Chinese and Western cultures have clashed and blended\, with Western trends and techniques influencing several art forms. However\, the truly traditional arts of Chinese calligraphy\, painting and seal carving have maintained their strong vitality all along – and this exhibition will put them in focus. The show will feature a total of 90 artworks by artists who lived in the city from the 1930s to the 21st century or somehow had ties with Macau. They include Shang Yanliu\, Zheng Jin\, Gao Jianfu\, Li Xiangen\, and Lin Jin\, among others. \nDue to the special geopolitics of Macau\, many artists moved in to live or sojourned here to escape war and turmoil\, and a few of them would go on to leave a distinct influence on modern Chinese calligraphy and painting. This is why calligraphy and painting art in Macau developed by leaps and bounds. This exhibition aims to raise the public’s awareness of native culture\, and provide an understanding of the role and contributions of Macau in the wider context of Chinese painting and calligraphy. \nWhen: 10:00am—7:00pm\, Friday—Sunday (closed on Mondays)\, July 14—August 4 \nWhere: Macao Museum of Art\, Avenida Xian Xing Hai\, Nape\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more details\, contact +853 8791 9814\, or visit their website\, or email them

SUMMARY:Mgm Cotai Presents Innovative Works of Alter Ego Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Alter Ego is the 1st Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries\, and as the only integrated resort operator in Macau to participate in the festival\, MGM is a key partner of the event. To show their commitment MGM Cotai is running an illusionary floor art piece by Portuguese artist Add Fuel\, and a site-specific digital installation by Pedro Ferreira and Rita João. \nAlter Ego is one of the highlights of the inaugural Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. The Arts Exhibition displays representative artworks from Mainland China\, Macau\, Hong Kong\, Portugal\, Angola\, Brazil and many other Portuguese-speaking countries\, presenting the current tendencies of contemporary art in China and the Portuguese-speaking countries. The exhibition Alter Ego is an exploration of the seminal idea exercised through the expression of contemporary art\, and delves deeply into the intricacies of the construction of the self in order to expose the true nature of its relationship with the other\, as well as with the outside world in general. \nDuring the exhibition\, Stratum 03 by Portuguese artist Add Fuel and Digital Best Guess by Pedrita Studio (Pedro Ferreira and Rita João) will be shown at MGM Cotai’s Spectacle\, immersing visitors in an imaginative world of art. Portuguese visual artist and illustrator Add Fuel re-interprets the language of traditional tile design and creates the Stratum 03 floor art piece\, leading visitors to question the reality of what is present in their immediate physical surroundings through the use of color gradient. Meanwhile\, the Digital Best Guess by the Pedrita Studio is shown on the world’s largest area of permanent indoor LED screens at the Spectacle. In this digital installation\, the portraits are produced with trims of reclaimed industrial Portuguese tiles from the 60’s to the 90’s\, and will be alternated with a patchwork of tiles that today are extremely rare\, but that are easily recognizable as part of many places familiar to Portuguese people. \nWhen: August 1–September 24 \nWhere: Avenida Da Nave Desportiva\, Cotai \nHow much: Free \nFor more information please call +853 8802 8888 or visit their website
