SUMMARY:Noetic by the Gothenburg Opera Dance Company
DESCRIPTION:Noetic is a performance that promises to immerse the audience and invite them on an exploration of humanity’s urges to control and escape its own rules. Conceived by topical choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui for the Gothenburg Opera Dance Company\, this piece merges fashion\, design and contemporary moves\, framed by an eclectic cultural and sonic background. \nWith style and ingenuity\, 200 dancers move on the sleek stage\, drawing gestures that are sometimes fluid\, sometimes mechanical\, conveying to build\, alter and demolish reality. Smartly dressed in black and white outfits from Belgian fashion label Les Hommes\, the performers convey a whirlpool of emotions\, manipulating carbon fiber shapes imagined by renowned British sculptor and set designer Antony Gormley. The mood is set with a flavor of Japanese tradition as a percussionist launches his taiko drums into cascades of intense rhythms. The music gradually develops into a fantastic blend of orchestral passages\, percussion and superb vocal solos specially composed for the Swedish company by Szymon Brzóska\, Gormley’s frequent collaborator. \n \nSince its world premiere in 2014\, Noetic has thrilled audiences all over the globe. The piece is one of many creations the Gothenburg Opera Dance Company has produced in collaboration with internationally renowned choreographers\, emerging artists\, and composers\, enriching its extended history of avant-garde works. Dance and stage arts lovers are invited to indulge in a unique show. A perfect synthesis of one of the most daring contemporary dance companies of our time. \nWhen: 8:00pm\, Sunday\, November 18\, 2018 \nWhere: Grand Auditorium\, Macau Cultural Centre\, Avenida Xian Xing Hai s/n\, NAPE\, Macau \nHow much: MOP $250\, $200\, $150\, $100 \nTickets can be purchased here and for more information\, call +853 2870 0699 or check the event’s website

SUMMARY:Fleeting Speeds: Photography Exhibition by Ricardo Meireles
DESCRIPTION:Fleeting Speeds is an exhibition by Portuguese artist Ricardo Meireles. According to the artist\, its purpose is to show that “the world moves on and on\, changes and evolves”. The project presented here tends to synthesize a way of observing the city. The important thing is to realize where we live\, the memories and identity that this place has. People are constantly on the move while these spaces tend to be permeable. \nIntroducing a moment of pause within these urban flows into Macau makes it possible\, once again\, to get involved and absorb the environment that in some way has been ignored and/or disregarded. “We allow ourselves to observe through elements of the city\, in social\, cultural and contextual means in connections within transit spaces\, whether they are streets\, squares\, alleys\, courtyards and at various moments the variation in scales\, speeds of movement and transport that converge\, diverge\, by whatever means; pedestrian\, bicycle\, motorcycle\, automobile\, buses. Stop\, look and observe”\, Meireles states. The exhibition is opened to public at Creative Macau gallery. \n \nThe exhibition is divided into three different sections. There is photography\, which registers the movement of the pedestrian flows\, in a testimony that focuses on a certain perennial element of the city\, whose characteristics of which it is part of the local memory\, of its identity as façades\, fences\, symbolisms where people’s movement fades\, movement in the city at different points. The second part focuses on video resulting from a search to understand how the urban movement is processed\, sporadic flows in different places of Macau\, slow\, other fast ones with greater volume of people who pass\, wander\, seek. On the other hand\, other times when that section of street there is without more register of people. The third and last section is of installation results from photos taken around Macau\, in search of characteristics of the place\, parts of forgotten memories\, the process of time about things\, what surrounds us. Shown in individual panel formats\, these images are presented in a plural context. In front of these images\, suspended acrylic slides makes a mediation between what is observed and who observes. Finding a means of recognizing the images through a half-reflecting filter that lets it transpire at the same time reflects the observer. “I watch\, I’m a part” is its motto. \nWhen: December 3–31\, 2018 \nWhere: Creative Macau\, G/F Macau Cultural Centre Building\, Avenida Xian Xing Hai \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, go to the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:A Sunday of Love Cabaret Show
DESCRIPTION:10 Marias Cultural Association is proud to announce the long awaited return of Sunday Show\, a desire shared both by artists and audiences. Sunday Show emerged in Bairro Alto\, Lisbon in 2002\, hosted by Madunna and/or La Monique\, who introduced other artists and gracefully printed the rhythm of the show. \nA magical world of fantasy\, glitter and trash\, for the pure delight of the public\, the so engaging performances took place week after week. Among the famous “Repeat”\, where all artists interpreted the same song\, other times the same dance\, the themes would change each show\, inspired by daily reality. The burlesque\, the satire or simply the absurd were dissected by both the artists and the audience. \nFor lack of other options at the time in Lisbon or simply as a result of boredom\, the core of this project\, formed by independent artists and non-artists\, was joined by other people that aimed to recreate a pure and hardcore cabaret environment where\, during 2 hours\, the audience was absorbed. Sunday Show lasted more than 10 years\, defining a generation. \nIn 2018\, the longing to celebrate its’ almost 20 years lead this collective of artists to reunite\, first in Lisbon\, and now in Macau\, since one of the key artists is now based here. The Sunday Show was and will always be\, unconditionally\, made with a lot of love. The event is organized by 10 Marias Cultural Association and supported by Orient Foundation\, Casa de Portugal em Macau and Macao Foundation. \nWhen: 10:00pm\, Saturday\, December 15\, 2018 \nWhere: Live Music Association\, 11B\, 50 Avenida do Coronel Mesquita\, Macau \nHow much: MOP $100 per person \nFor more information\, visit Sunday Shows\, The 10 Marias Cultural Association\, or LMA Facebook pages \nFor enquiries\, contact Mónica Coteriano by emailing mcoteriano@gmail.com or calling +853 6299 8404

SUMMARY:Belgian Theatre Narrow by Laika
DESCRIPTION:Staged by the Belgian theater Laika\, this wordless play is one of the numerous examples of theater for the senses the troupe has created since 1991. Without flinching\, the audience will follow a hilarious couple’s quest for domestic bliss that will turn slightly bitterer than one would expect. Sharing a minuscule house\, the two protagonists contort their lanky frames to fit the flat’s interior. As flowers are exchanged\, chocolates are shared and embraces become unavoidable\, they seem to be made for each other. Laughing along with all other families\, amused with the intimate simplicity of Narrow’s clever setting\, in the end\, we too will be wishing to stay\, just a tiny bit longer. \nWhen: Saturday–Monday\, December 22–24\, 2018 \n(Saturda\, 3:00pm; Sunday\, 3:00pm and 7:00pm; Monday\, 11:00am) \nWhere: Small Auditorium\, Macao Cultural Centre\, Avenida Xian Xing Hai s/n\, NAPE\, Macau \nHow much: MOP $180 per person
