SUMMARY:The Imagery of the Zen Mind: Works by Wai Man Hun
DESCRIPTION:“Discovery” is the most difficult part of the photography creation process in a natural environment.“Discovery” is to search for the environmental element in the natural environment that complies with the author’s thoughts. What reflects the artistic accomplishment of an author after “discovery” is by observing how he or she makes sacrifices in the angle and compositional choices. The moment the author presses the shutter integrates his knowledge and aesthetics from self-cultivation and the experience of life\, it achieves a photographic “Imagery thinking” realm that can be explained as “painting in a moment\, telling the story through the imagery”. The works can speak. They tell us about the author’s self-cultivation\, cultural accumulation and expressed intention. In terms of artistic expression\, I think image expression is better than character expression. \nThe author of this exhibition\, Wai Man Hun\, has a rich experience of life. During his youth\, he has been pursuing a variety of knowledge\, not only ancient Chinese medicine\, Buddhism\, Taoism\, but he has also been studying hard on philosophy\, cosmology\, natural science\, and physics for many years. In recent years\, the author pursues artistic photography. During the creation process\, he expresses his inner ideas and world view. This exhibition is a rare “painting at an instant” art exhibition which would change the traditional cogitation! Using “imagery thinking”\, the author uses the mind of Zen to communicate and whisper to the natural environment\, therefore\, it can achieve an imaginary realm that expresses the state of “the mind changes as the environment turns and the image generated by the heart.” The images on display show the author’s reductive process from “Zen mind- imagery” to “imagery- Zen mind”. The works transform complicated topics into simple thoughts\, the theme is clear\, the composition is unique and the artistic conception is profound. In the lotus pond in Macao\, Wai Man Hun whispered to the natural environment\, revealing the mystery of nature and produces the works of “The Imagery of the Zen Mind”. \nThis exhibition expresses the feelings of emotion\, nature\, “xie yi” (freehand style)\, for those who feel resonant with the works\, will feel quiet\, comfortable\, and spiritually rich. ‘The Imagery of the Zen Mind – Works by Vai Man Hun’ conveys that everything in the universe is endless and repetitive. \nWhen: August 31–October 18\, 2019 \nWhere: 1844 Macau Photography Art Space\, 17 Rua do Infante\, Edf. SUMMARY:"Tak Chun Art Garden" – Cai Guojie's Solo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The “Half-Field Project” is an imaginative art project by artist Cai Guojie. Starting from the “Linear Store” implemented in Taipei in 2004\, Cai Guojie borrowed the land development and sales model to sell the boundary line between the land sections in the world. It is a borderline that is a mixture between various “spaces of power” and “spaces of consumption”. In the game of selling the borderline\, the “Half-Field Project” suggests a solemn concept: the space of power and the jurisdictional boundary. Different from his previous “Half-Field Project”\, the artist’s current solo exhibition “Tak Chun Art Garden” in the Macau Art For All Society records and exhibits the continuous re-circulation process after the sale of “a land line” in front of the Tak Chun Macau Art Garden. “Tak Chun Art Garden” is a brand new attempt in the entire “Half-Field Project”. \nThe artist gives up the production control of the work and makes the work flow and spread in nature. As long as humans recognize the exchange of such forms\, this project will continue to circulate over time\, self-generating\, never ending\, and is “nomadic” in its nature: the flow of decentralization (de-centering) process and the breeding of aesthetic characteristics. This flowing line in “Tak Chun Art Garden” has become the artist’s determination to resist the structure of the old rule of space\, “Deterritorialising” in nomadism\, flowing and spreading. This is a new and profound aesthetic attempt. \nCai was born in Hsinchu\, Taiwan. In 2010\, he graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Taiwan University of the Arts with a master’s degree. In 2018\, he studied at the School of Intermedia Arts\, China Academy of Art\, a doctoral student. Now he lives and works in Macau and Hangzhou. He believes that art is to create a description of differences\, and artists cannot give up the power of art in the name of art. The “Half-Field Plan” is a deed to mark the inter-space space and explores the concept of “power field” in art. With the series of contents of the “Half-Field Plan” the choice is power-giving; mutual understanding is the game of power. Cai Guojie’s focus is on the transfer of rights from “concepts” to “entities” and the ownership of the gaps between boundaries. \nAt this point\, the “bound power” and the “power of desire” of the artificial boundary\, these powers can help to oppose the “infinity” of the opposite – that is\, the freedom we desire. He had his work exhibited in New York\, Liverpool and Hampstead\, France\, Paris\, Germany\, Berlin\, Italy\, Florence\, Amsterdam and Rotterdam\, Portugal\, Lisbon\, Istanbul\, Tokyo \,Osaka\, Seoul\, Singapore\, Beijing\, Shanghai\, Hangzhou\, Guangzhou\, Taiwan\, Hong Kong\, Macau and other countries and places. \nWhen: September 21–October 25\, 2019 \nWhere: Macau Art Garden\, 265 Avenida do Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information check their Facebook page
