SUMMARY:Love of Macao – Photographs by Lee Kung Kim
DESCRIPTION:The Macao Museum of Art (MAM)\, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau\, and the Black-And-White Photographic Society of Macao co-organize the exhibition: Love of Macao – Photographs by Lee Kung Kim\, featuring 150 excellent documental photography works under the theme of Macao. \nLee Kung Kim is an experienced Macao photographer who likes landscape photography.He was dedicated to photography for over half a century and won awards in many international photography competitions. During his residence in Macao for 69 years\, he has left Macao with precious visual memories through photography\, including precious portraits of Macao’s society and the daily life of residents. Lee Kung Kim had said\, “Photography has allowed me to meet numerous good mentors and friends. I have also built a strong body and accumulated experiences from success and lessons from failure. More importantly\, I have accrued countless historical\, documentary photos\, which are the artistic fortune of my entire life. Photography is my second life\, while cameras will always be my loyal partners.” \nThe exhibition Love of Macao – Photographs by Lee Kung Kim is held on the 1st floor of the MAM. SUMMARY:28th Macao Arts Festival (MAF)
DESCRIPTION:The 28th Macao Arts Festival (MAF)\, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and themed “Heterotopia”\, will be held from April 28 to May 31\, establishing through texts\, stories\, images\, music and imagery\, a diversified space away from reality yet closely connected to it\, bringing new possibilities to existence. Tickets will be available through the Macau Ticketing Network from 10am on March 12 (Sunday). \nThis edition of the MAF offers a variety of exceptional performances. The Festival kicks off with Play and Play: An Evening of Movement and Music\, a reinterpretation of Schubert and Ravel’s classics by internationally acclaimed North-American modern dance company Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane\, and closes with The Seagull\, performed by the Reykjavik City Theatre. On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Chinese theatre\, the Shaanxi People’s Art Theatre takes to the stage the classic Westland Feuds. Several local performances are also fascinating: the soundscape theatre play Back to the Catastrophic Typhoon of 1874\, which original novel was awarded at the Macao Literature Competition; The Nether\, which portrays the seemingly limitless dividing line between the real and virtual worlds; and numerous family programmes such as Rusty Nails & Other Heroes\, Metamorphosis under Starry Night\, A Mano\, cater for people all ages to take part in the Festival. \nWhen: April 28 – May 31\, 2017 \nWhere: Various locations in Macau including Macao Cultural Centre\, Old Court Building\, Dom Pedro V. SUMMARY:Our Belle Époque Macao - The Works of Leo Fan
DESCRIPTION:Taking the blue sky and the white flowers as the fundamentals of the paintings by Leo Fan\, such recurring elements reflect the artist’s perceptions of the future. Fan’s allusions are also outlined through his ever-changing style of artistic presentation. The thematic subject of the works showcased in this exhibition is “face” where each and every portrait is embedded with a touching story. The traces of every single human being’s hard work in this unadorned world is marked. Some of them may achieve fame for themselves\, while others remain anonymous; their persistence and faith are beyond materialistic pursuits.
