SUMMARY:Love of Macao – Photographs by Lee Kung Kim
DESCRIPTION:The Macao Museum of Art (MAM)\, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau\, and the Black-And-White Photographic Society of Macao co-organize the exhibition: Love of Macao – Photographs by Lee Kung Kim\, featuring 150 excellent documental photography works under the theme of Macao. \nLee Kung Kim is an experienced Macao photographer who likes landscape photography.He was dedicated to photography for over half a century and won awards in many international photography competitions. During his residence in Macao for 69 years\, he has left Macao with precious visual memories through photography\, including precious portraits of Macao’s society and the daily life of residents. Lee Kung Kim had said\, “Photography has allowed me to meet numerous good mentors and friends. I have also built a strong body and accumulated experiences from success and lessons from failure. More importantly\, I have accrued countless historical\, documentary photos\, which are the artistic fortune of my entire life. Photography is my second life\, while cameras will always be my loyal partners.” \nThe exhibition Love of Macao – Photographs by Lee Kung Kim is held on the 1st floor of the MAM. SUMMARY:Our Belle Époque Macao - The Works of Leo Fan
DESCRIPTION:Taking the blue sky and the white flowers as the fundamentals of the paintings by Leo Fan\, such recurring elements reflect the artist’s perceptions of the future. Fan’s allusions are also outlined through his ever-changing style of artistic presentation. The thematic subject of the works showcased in this exhibition is “face” where each and every portrait is embedded with a touching story. The traces of every single human being’s hard work in this unadorned world is marked. Some of them may achieve fame for themselves\, while others remain anonymous; their persistence and faith are beyond materialistic pursuits. SUMMARY:A Retrospective Exhibition of the Ferry Transport between Macao and the Islands
DESCRIPTION:In the mid-twentieth century\, the ferry vessel was an important transportation tool for passengers between the Macao peninsula and the two islands\, Taipa and Coloane. It is an integral part of Macao’s history and memories. \nThis exhibition unveils a number of collections for the first time\, such as the original documents “Stock Booklet of Un Fat Ferry between Macao and Coloane” and “Lease Contract of Motorboat” of the ferry operation company\, as well as other items related to the ferry vessels\, including photographs\, ferry tickets\, newspapers and commemorative publications\, among others. \nIn the exhibition\, interactive electronic screens are also available to introduce “The Evolution of Macao’s Topography”\, which covers the territory’s coastlines and vessel routes from different eras. Meanwhile\, video excerpts of interviews with several old residents are screened to share their stories in taking ferry vessels\, revealing the unique rustic simplicity of this small city. In addition\, visitors can enjoy a 3D virtual ferry ride based on the ferry model “Kuong Kong”. \n \nThrough various forms of exhibits such as precious documents\, images\, and interview videos\, the exhibition shows social changes that occurred in Macao\, making available a replenishment for future studies on maritime traffic. Allow visitors to experience Macao’s life in the old days\, the exhibition also intends to educate the public on good family and neighbourhood relations. \nThe exhibition “In Search of those Journeys – A Retrospective Exhibition of the Ferry Transport between Macao and the Islands” is open daily except for Mondays from 10am to 7pm. SUMMARY:Macao Lotus Flower Festival
DESCRIPTION:An annual tradition\, the Macao Lotus Flower Festival always attracts visitors to admire the beautiful perennial aquatic plant found far and wide throughout China. Themed ‘Splendour of Lotus Flowers’ this year\, the main exhibition located at the Taipa Houses employs a landscape dotted with architectural elements typical of South Asia\, incorporating pointed arches and repeated geometric patterns to highlight the beauty of the lotus. \nAmongst the activities include; “Lotus Flower Exhibition Area with Miniature Constructions of South Asia\, Lotus in Scenery of South Asia – Lotus Flower Floral Art Exhibition\, Enchantment of Exotic Lotus – Lotus Culture Photo and Literature Exhibition” from 7:00am to 10:00pm at the Taipa Houses. \nThe “Floral Displays of South Asia -Lotus Flower Floral Art Competition and Works Exhibition” runs from June 13 to 14 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Lou Lim Ioc Garden.
