SUMMARY:A Retrospective Exhibition of the Ferry Transport between Macao and the Islands
DESCRIPTION:In the mid-twentieth century\, the ferry vessel was an important transportation tool for passengers between the Macao peninsula and the two islands\, Taipa and Coloane. It is an integral part of Macao’s history and memories. \nThis exhibition unveils a number of collections for the first time\, such as the original documents “Stock Booklet of Un Fat Ferry between Macao and Coloane” and “Lease Contract of Motorboat” of the ferry operation company\, as well as other items related to the ferry vessels\, including photographs\, ferry tickets\, newspapers and commemorative publications\, among others. \nIn the exhibition\, interactive electronic screens are also available to introduce “The Evolution of Macao’s Topography”\, which covers the territory’s coastlines and vessel routes from different eras. Meanwhile\, video excerpts of interviews with several old residents are screened to share their stories in taking ferry vessels\, revealing the unique rustic simplicity of this small city. In addition\, visitors can enjoy a 3D virtual ferry ride based on the ferry model “Kuong Kong”. \n \nThrough various forms of exhibits such as precious documents\, images\, and interview videos\, the exhibition shows social changes that occurred in Macao\, making available a replenishment for future studies on maritime traffic. Allow visitors to experience Macao’s life in the old days\, the exhibition also intends to educate the public on good family and neighbourhood relations. \nThe exhibition “In Search of those Journeys – A Retrospective Exhibition of the Ferry Transport between Macao and the Islands” is open daily except for Mondays from 10am to 7pm. Guided tours in Cantonese will be available from 3pm to 4pm every Saturday. \nWhen: June 3 – October 5\, 2017 \nWhere: Taipa-Houses  \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more details\, contact +853 8988 4000 or visit www.icm.gov.mo

SUMMARY:Small City Stories: Memories and Anecdotes from The Three Lamps
DESCRIPTION:This year\, the Community Art Project of Ox Warehouse revolves around the Three Lamps District (aka Rotunda de Carlos da Maia). There are the people who were born and grew up in this area\, the Burmese Chinese who settled in Macao after the anti-Chinese riots in Burma in the 1960s\, owners and staff of stores and restaurants in the neighbourhood\, schoolboys and girls on their way to and from school or just stopping for lunch\, the old folks as well as the immigrant workers from Southeast Asia gathering in the leisure area. \nPeople from different walks of life revolve daily around this lamp post\, and therefore the tiny roundabout congregates a diverse community living in their own ways\, but closely knitted. \nTogether with the project creative types\, through communication\, research and interviews with the residents in different approaches\, on different subjects and topics of their interest\, we aim to sort out and compile personal stories related to the Three Lamps District residents and its neighborhood\, which will be presented through different artistic angles\, on a variety of media. \nWhen: September 3–27\, 2017 \nWhere: 2F Gallery of Ox Warehouse\, No Cruzamento da Avenidado Coronel Mesquita coma Avenida Almirante Lacerda\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor Enquiry: +853 2853 0026 or oxwarehouse@gmail.com \n

SUMMARY:FLOW: Glass Art Exhibition by Sunny Wang
DESCRIPTION:Glass artist Sunny Wang has been engaged in the art of glass teaching and creative activities for many years. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University. Her artworks were awarded an Honourable Mention at the “International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa” in Japan and the First Prize in Single Material at the “Golden Glass Awards” in Taiwan\, among others\, and have been showcased in exhibitions in countries such as Australia\, Germany\, France\, Italy\, Maldives\, Singapore\, South Korea and Mainland China. \nThis exhibition features twenty pieces (sets) of Wang’s glass installations. Her works are rich in oriental cultural elements. Among them\, the work “Poetic Stones” is inspired by the Buddhist ode of The Ten Ox-herding Pictures and ancient Chinese phonology. Twenty-eight black stone-shaped glass of different shapes and sizes are displayed in four rows with seven in each row\, corresponding to the rhythm of seven words quatrains. She uses lines in her works\, making large circles as the level tone\, while small circles as the oblique tone. Each circle refers to a moment\, a stone refers to a rhyme. There is no way back and no interval in the course of glassblowing\, just like calligraphy writing. The creation process has to be completed without interval and reversal\, corresponding with the artist’s perception of “living at the moment”. \nWhen: September 11—November 19\, 2017 \nWhere: Temporary Exhibitions Gallery of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau\, Leal Senado Building\, 163 Av. Almeida Ribeiro\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more details\, visit www.icm.gov.mo or +853 8988 4000
