DESCRIPTION:Featured image above: Pan Jinlian in Chisha\, by Han Lei (2005) \nThis exhibition is one of the series of activities of “Art Macao” and the “2nd Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”\, showcasing the diverse manifestations and development of contemporary art in China and Portuguese-speaking countries\, and offering a new experience of Chinese and Portuguese visual arts to residents and tourists of Macau. \nThe exhibition “Lingua Franca” features numerous photography and video works by 22 representative artists from 10 countries and regions\, including Mainland China\, Macau\, and the Portuguese-speaking countries\, showcasing the distinctive regional cultures and diverse customs. This has led to exchanges and dialogues through the artworks\, allowing multiculturalism to resonate\, and composing wonderful art chapters from China and Portuguese-speaking countries. This exhibition is held at No. 55 – 57 Avenida do Coronel Mesquita (Green Townhouses)\, which is open for the first time after its restoration\, as well as at the Former Municipal Cattle Stable (Ox Warehouse)\, bringing Chinese and Portuguese artistic atmosphere to the streets. \nUntitled\, by Evandro Teixeira (1995) \nThe Portuguese-style Green Townhouses are composed of single houses with exterior walls painted in green and white\, with small and elegant interior spaces\, creating an ideal space with a cozy and comfortable atmosphere for visitors to enjoy the artworks. During the restoration period\, the Cultural Affairs Bureau completely preserved the façade and appearance of the buildings and maintained the spatial characteristics of its front and back yards. DESCRIPTION:The “7th Latin American Cultural Festival” organized by the Macao Association for the Promotion of Exchange between Asia Pacific and Latin America (MAPEAL) is held from October 11 to November 30\, 2019\, in Macau. The participating countries of this year include Argentina\, Brazil\, Chile\, Colombia\, Cuba\, Ecuador\, Mexico\, Panama\, Peru\, Uruguay\, and Venezuela. SUMMARY:"By the Light of the Moon - Works by Hong Wai"
DESCRIPTION:Since an early age\, Hong Wai was attracted by the oriental aesthetic of Chinese Ink Art. Later in her life she started to travel around from Macau to Taiwan and then to France. Perhaps\, her rebellious genes must meet the French revolutionary soil. There are mainly two series of artworks for Hong Wai solo exhibition\, which are “Feminine Landscape”; and “Moonlight Series”. \n“Feminine Landscape”\, is a declaration of feminism in traditional Chinese ink painting. After a long period of time painting strokes of the lace pattern weaved on the paper\, Hong Wai wanted to return to Nature. Her latest work\, “Moonlight Series”\, is a removal of concept. DESCRIPTION:Organized by Art For All Society (AFA) and Orient Foundation\, AFA Autumn Salon 2019 opens to the public on November 3. This year will be the 10th anniversary of the Autumn Salon which began in 2010. After the artwork selection by the jury\, this time there are 78 artworks from around fifty Macau local artists presented in the exhibition.. \nThe participating artists are: Ana Jacinto Nunes\, Cai Guo Jie\, Chan San San\, Chau Chong In\, Chau da Luz Celeste\, Cheang Kawo\, Cheong Hoi I\, Cheong Ut Man\, Chiang Wai Lan\, Edmundo Remédios Lameiras\, Erik Fok\, Fan In Kuan\, Fan Sai Hong\, Benjamin Kidder Hodges\, Hong Vong Hoi\, Iao Hao Fong\, Alice Ieong\, James Chu\, Kay Zhang\, Lai Ka Weng Jasmine\, Lai Sio Kit\, Lam Im Peng\, Lei Cheng U\, Lei Ka Ieng\, Lei Man Cheng\, Leong Cheng I\, Leong Chi Mou\, Leong Fei In\, Leong Man Teng\, Ng Fong Chao Noah\, Ng Man Wai\, Nick Tai\, Ricarte Francisco António\, Ricardo Filipe dos Santos Meireles\, Sam Kin Hang\, Sou Chon Kit\, Sylviye Lei\, Tang Kuok Hou\, Tong Chong\, Vai Im Fong\, Van Pou Lon\, Wong Ka Long\, Wong Si Teng\, Yang Sio Maan\, Zhang Xiaoxi Belina\, Zheng Yu. \nThe selected artworks include oil painting\, watercolor\, drawing\, sculpture\, photography\, printmaking\, installations\, and others. All participants are now working and living in Macau with different backgrounds. This year not only the young and potential artists but also artists who are playing a central role in Macau’s contemporary art scene has participated in the exhibition. It’s a good chance for artists to learn from each other to achieve complementarity. Just as in the past\, the awarded artworks of the 8th “Orient Foundation Art Award” have been selected\, the winner of “Orient Foundation Art Award” is to be given an opportunity to visit Portugal for a one month art exchange program\, and the result is being announced in the opening ceremony of “AFA Autumn Salon 2019”. \nAFA Macau and Orient Foundation have always been working on creating platforms for local and oversea artists\, providing opportunities for them to interact and learn from each other. SUMMARY:"Red December" Exhibition by Carlos Marreiros
DESCRIPTION:“Red December” – Exhibition of Carlos Marreiros\, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau\, opened to the public on November 8\, at the Tap Seac Gallery. This exhibition features artist Carlos Marreiros’ latest large-scale artwork “Red December” and a series of paintings from his sketchbooks. “Red December”\, a large composition embedded with detail\, depicts a scene where Chinese and Western historical figures from different periods of time gather together and indulge in pleasant conversations with each other. \nThe work visualizes the utopia in the artist’s mind\, where different cultures exist harmoniously in an inclusive society. SUMMARY:Your Hand in Mine – Tetsuya Noda Diary
DESCRIPTION:“Your Hand in Mine” brings together examples of the 500-plus works by Japanese artist and printmaker Tetsuya Noda in his 50 years of creativity. Starting in the late 1960s and continuing to the present\, he has produced a series of prints entitled “Diary”\, respectively featuring his family members; natural scenery viewed during his trips; and depicting his daily encounters with people\, ideas and objects. SUMMARY:Lio Man Cheong Exhibition at Galeria Lisboa
DESCRIPTION:To mark the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to the homeland\, Macau Fisherman’s Wharf hosts a new oil painting\, watercolor and acrylic exhibition by Lio Man Cheong. He is one of Macau’s most famous painters and was born on the 21st of October of 1951 in Zhuhai. In the 1960s when his family moved to Macau and on his way to school he was about ten years old and passed the Wing Lok cinema which captivated his attention by the movie posters. \nHis elementary school art teacher inspired Lio to develop a sharp interest in painting campaigns\, so after graduation\, he studied part-time at Seong Fan Evening High School and there he had the first opportunity to paint advertising posters. Lio has designed marketing materials for commercial products and street propaganda and also taught art in schools. \nVictoria Cinema has contracted Lio for promotional posters of new films brought from China and Hong Kong\, Europe and America.
