SUMMARY:Fiction Non Fiction Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The video exhibition “Fiction Non Fiction” Reassembling 24 frames of reality through non narrative film works”\, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau\, is on since October 28\, 2019. In order to introduce video art and promote diverse types of videos close by residents and tourists\, and enhance the artistic atmosphere of the city\, the exhibition showcases productions by five artists including Lao Keng U (Macau)\, Liao Jiekai (Singapore)\, Yosep Anggi Noen (Indonesia)\, Tulapop Saenjaroen (Thailand) and Raya Martin (the Philippines)\, which comprise non-narrative films in the form of video art – experimental and avant-garde films. \nIn these short\, medium and long experimental films\, the five artists attempt to give the audience an insight into the absurdity\, quality and reflection beyond mere images\, and probe into the understanding and construction of reality from a new perspective. DESCRIPTION:Themed as “Explore the Light” this year\, Macau Tourism Mascot “Mak Mak” will join locals and visiting spectators to explore four glittery routes and Macau’s evolving cityscape over the last two decades through different angles in the art of light. The adventure will reminisce the stories and memories belonging to the people of Macau\, and evoke the joy brought by celebrations of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR. There are several routes to follow: Route 1: Light of Age (north district)\, Route 2: Light of Memory (central district and St. Lazarus parish)\, Route 3: Light of Colours (Nam Van and Sai Van district)\, Route 4: Light of Harmony (Nossa Senhora do Carmo Parish). \n“Light of Age” in the northern district connects different places including Leisure Area in Rua do General Ivens Ferraz\, Leisure Area at Baía Norte do Patane on Rua Norte do Patane and Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome. Along the route\, various spots are festooned to sparkle like a star-studded sky. Spectators can get lost in the beauty of “Eight Planets” at Leisure Area in Rua do General Ivens Ferraz\, hop onto a future spaceship for an experience of “Space Travel”\, or enjoy a walk down memory lane through different decades in Macau with the mapping show “Memory of Macau Canidrome” at Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome. \n“Light of Memory” in the central district and St. Lazarus’ Parish connects Leisure Area at Largo da Sé\, Ruins of St. Paul’s\, Rua dos Ervanários\, Largo do Pagode do Bazar and Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro. Spectators can experience the fun of “Swinging Cascade” and “AR Magic Sandbox” at Largo do Pagode do Bazar. “Homey Lamp” at Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro\, projects different home lightings commonly used in different ages\, which will mirror the changes in people’s life in Macau. \n“Light of Colors” in Nam Van and Sai Van Districts covers Anim’Arte Nam Van\, Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre\, the White awning at Nam Van as well as St. Joseph’s Seminary Church. The route features a cascade projection titled “Floating Wonder”\, a mega light installation “Glistening Lotus” and more\, besides an encounter with “Big Mak”\, a huge 12-meter-tall balloon “Mak Mak” at Anim’Arte Nam Van. Audiences can enjoy “Flow of Melody”\, a piano performance paired with light installation\, or shop for local signature delicacies and cultural and creative products in “Anim’Arte Market”. \n“Light of Harmony” at Our Lady of Carmel Parish will cover the Taipa Houses\, Largo dos Bombeiros and the square in front of Pak Tai Temple. “Tide of Love” projects light effects resembling ocean tides at Taipa Houses\, creating harmonious scenery imbued with romantic aroma. A mapping show named “Carnival” is staged at Largo dos Bombeiros to showcase the cultural gems and culinary delights from Portugal\, bringing to life the creative dynamic of Macau as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. \nThe Macao Light Festival 2019 is organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office\, co-organized by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau\, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Sports Bureau. DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Es.tab.lish.ment\, by Pedro Pascoinho is a series of 20 oil-on-paper artworks created from Western European images and cultural icons. The enigmatic and intimate approach that the artist establishes is the heir to a North American Cinematographic imaginary of the Post-Second World War period\, whose figurative representation elements (characters and objects) refer us back to the passage of time. \nA suspended time that repeats itself in fragments of symbols and gestures\, using the color red as a guideline of a pictorial aesthetic speech. SUMMARY:Exhibition: Tam Chek Wun & Lao Chon Hong Works
DESCRIPTION:Local artists Tam Chek Wun and Lao Chon Hong won the Grand Prize of the Jury Award with their works Towering Mountains and Cloudy Ridges and Hexagram – Life respectively\, at the Collective Exhibition of Macao Artists 2017. In order to showcase the artworks of these two artists\, the Cultural Affairs Bureau specially organized this exhibition as a way to encourage local artists to keep moving forward in their artistic career. \nThe exhibition features a total of 36 pieces (sets) of paintings\, including the artists’ winning works in 2017 and their new creations in 2019. In the 18 pieces (sets) by Tam Chek Wun\, the artist unfolds the imposing presence of precipitous mountains with his consummate command of ink\, while depicting the relaxing ambiance of Macau as a small city.
