SUMMARY:"By the Light of the Moon - Works by Hong Wai"
DESCRIPTION:Since an early age\, Hong Wai was attracted by the oriental aesthetic of Chinese Ink Art. Later in her life she started to travel around from Macau to Taiwan and then to France. Perhaps\, her rebellious genes must meet the French revolutionary soil. There are mainly two series of artworks for Hong Wai solo exhibition\, which are “Feminine Landscape”; and “Moonlight Series”. \n“Feminine Landscape”\, is a declaration of feminism in traditional Chinese ink painting. After a long period of time painting strokes of the lace pattern weaved on the paper\, Hong Wai wanted to return to Nature. Her latest work\, “Moonlight Series”\, is a removal of concept. Using the composition of photography to freeze the elements of nature\, and then slowly and leisurely\, she continues to do what she likes the most: painting\, by the light of the moon. \nWhen: November 1–December 5\, 2019 \nWhere: AFA\, 4F Art Garden\, 265 Avenida Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check their website \nFeminine Landscape series (1901)

SUMMARY:Exhibition Es.tab.lish.ment by Pedro Pascoinho
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Es.tab.lish.ment\, by Pedro Pascoinho is a series of 20 oil-on-paper artworks created from Western European images and cultural icons. The enigmatic and intimate approach that the artist establishes is the heir to a North American Cinematographic imaginary of the Post-Second World War period\, whose figurative representation elements (characters and objects) refer us back to the passage of time. \nA suspended time that repeats itself in fragments of symbols and gestures\, using the color red as a guideline of a pictorial aesthetic speech. Pascoinho challenges us to think about the human condition by evoking “represented” spaces giving the spectator the role of recreating his own narrative. \nWhen: December 6\, 2019–January 6\, 2020 \nWhere: Casa Garden\, Orient Foundation\, 13 Praça de Luís de Camões\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:"NO YA Ark: Invisible Voyage – You Don’t Know Me At All Installation Exhibition"
DESCRIPTION:The lowly red shrines and altars of Earth God at the Door (Men Kou Tu Di) and God of Wealth (Cai Shen) scattering across Macao\, at the door corners of buildings\, residences\, and stores\, are at the center of this exhibition. These Earth Gods look like the Land Gods in Taiwan. But in Taiwan\, a whole village or a whole neighborhood can only have a Land God temple; by contrast in Macau\, the small\, fine shrines and altars of Earth God and God of Wealth are ubiquitous\, on almost every street and alley\, literally hidden throughout Macau across its glamorous urban fabric\, with their humble presence easily being ignored by rushing passers by. \nThat said\, these Earth Gods and Gods of Wealth whose statues are made from materials such as marble\, metal\, wood or even plastic\, have become part of the daily cityscape for Macau and its people. Through the city residents’ folk religion in everyday life\, we try to present the impression it gave us – hurrying visitors just passing by. \nWhen: December 14\, 2019–February 2\, 2020 (closed on Mondays) \nWhere: 1/F and 2/F\, Post-Ox Warehouse Experimental Site\, 15 R. do Volong\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, visit their website\, call +853 2853 0026\, send an email to oxwarehouse@gmail.com or check the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:Macau Canidrome – Pouching Tsai Solo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Pouching Tsai was born in Chiayi in 1986 and currently lives and works in Tainan. He mostly work with video and installation\, starting initially by transforming values in the values system of contemporary society. Recently\, however\, his works mostly use different methods such as misuse and forgery to create from systems in biological sciences. \nAs a child\, he loved animals – he enjoyed learning related knowledge about different creatures\, which often were an inspiration for the him. The knowledge itself\, however\, is not actually the bridge between the artist and animals\, rather it is some sort of files with “powerful yet conventional truths” behind them. \nThese files have their own system of logic and research methods\, which he uses as he collects them in a files archive. Tsai implements misuse\, misorder\, and fabrication to the system of these files and then fills it with unconventionality to shake the powerful yet conventional truths. \nWhen: December 14\, 2019–February 11\, 2020 \nWhere: 1/F and 2/F\, Post-Ox Warehouse Experimental Site\, 15 R. do Volong\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, visit their website\, call +853 2853 0026\, send an email to oxwarehouse@gmail.com or check the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains 3.0 Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Through various presentations by means of digital multimedia\, interactive experiencing\, spatial displays\, and physical displays\, “A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains 3.0” illustrates the aesthetic nuances of this most famous ancient Chinese painting\, exploring it by “moving\, travelling\, seeing\, living” within it\, so as to convey the masterpiece’s philosophical pursuit of “harmony between man and nature”\, prompting visitors to ponder the relationships between man and nature\, man and society\, and man and his soul. \n \nThe digital long scroll of A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains is the world’s first multi-channel technology enabling real-time interaction with the audience. SUMMARY:A Pearl of the Sea - Exhibition of Macao’s Urban Evolution
DESCRIPTION:Macau has been increasing land resources through reclamation since the mid-19th century\, which subsequently has had a profound impact on its overall urban development. SUMMARY:Game – Gigi Lee’s Multimedia Solo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The notion of play has long been a crucial factor in our lives\, as our doings integrate and unfold in games. When technology advances\, the world of gaming has moved away from interactive equipment and manifested in virtual reality. The gaming industry has reflected on forty years of technological developments and the changes of human values\, at the same time\, the game industry continued to shape our economic structure. In place of physical value\, the next generation will be driven by the utility of a digital future. \nThe 00s grow up in the intangible digital world\, in a society that would be characterized by the digital assets of animation\, virtual Idols\, game accessories and virtual currencies. For his video installation “Super Mario Clouds”\, Cory Arcangel has tweaked the game’s code in a cartridge of Super Mario Brothers\, presenting his work as a game within the game. Forty years have passed since Super Mario Clouds came out\, and the mainstream of game culture is now dominated by virtual and augmented reality. As we maneuver in digital games\, it is becoming hard to tell reality from fantasy. In such context\, how do we transfer our real life values into the digital world? The exhibition investigates the latest gaming technologies with traditional game consoles\, by inviting the audiences to rethink on the real and digital world. \nWhen: December 28\, 2019–February 16\, 2020 \nWhere: Ox Warehouse\, GF\, 1F & 2F Gallery\, 15 Rua do Volong\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, call +853 2853 0026\, send an email to oxwarehouse@gmail.com or check the event’s Facebook page

DESCRIPTION:This exhibition is arranged by four locally certified Zentangle teachers who are Vibian Kou\, Ron Loo\, Velda Chan\, and Katniss Ao Ieong\, where the artworks of certified Zentangle teachers and their students will be demonstrated. The artworks consist of cooperated creation\, merged creation and Zentangle inspired art\, and more. \nZentangle art originates from the U.S. which is the new rising art style. It is a relaxing drawing method that allows artists to relieve pressure and gain self-recognition. When drawing zentangles\, simple lines are applied to draw pretty and complicated patterns\, under a certain framework with personal thoughts added\, so as to achieve a state of relaxation and concentration. \nSince zentangle students come from different ages and career backgrounds\, they take away their own unique interpretations after working with zentangles. These students bring interesting stories to share. The aim of this exhibition is to promote zentangle so that we can experience zentangle art as being tangible. Art is not supposed to be untouchable. Everyone can enjoy creating art that can positively impact others. \nWhen: January 7–13\, 2020 \nWhere: Rui Cunha Foundation\, GF 749 Avenida da Praia Grande\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the event’s Facebook page
