SUMMARY:teamLab SuperNature Macao
DESCRIPTION:Featured image: teamLab. Expanding Three-Dimensional Existence in Transforming Space – Flattening 3 Colors and 9 Blurred Colors\, Free Floating\, 2009-2018\, Interactive Installation\, Endless\, Sound: Hideaki Takahashi © teamLab \nTeamLab SuperNature Macao is a groundbreaking permanent interactive experience opening at The Venetian Macao in June\, 2020. Cotai Expo boasts 5\,000 square meters of labyrinthine floor space. With eight meter-high ceilings throughout\, the space is transformed by teamLab into an extremely complex\, three-dimensional world across varying elevations\, featuring immersive and compelling artworks. \nThis is a single\, massive world comprised of works by art collective teamLab that aims to explore new perceptions of the world and the continuity between humans and nature. It is a “body immersive” museum centered around a group of works that blur the boundaries between people’s bodies and art. In teamLab SuperNature\, people immerse their bodies in art with others\, influencing and becoming a part of the artworks themselves. People become one with the art\, blurring their perception of the boundaries between the body and the artwork\, and thereby recognizing the continuity between the self and the world. \nThe seasons change gradually across the installation space of Mountain of Flowers and People: Lost\, Immersed and Reborn. A seasonal year of flowers blossoms according to the changing seasons\, and the place where they grow gradually moves. The flowers bud\, grow\, and blossom before their petals begin to wither and eventually fade away. The cycle of growth and decay repeats itself in perpetuity. If a person stays still\, the flowers surrounding them grow and bloom more abundantly. If viewers touch or step on the flowers\, they shed their petals\, wither\, and die all at once. Neither a prerecorded animation nor on loop\, the work is rendered in real-time by a computer program. The interaction between the viewer and the installation causes continuous change in the artwork; previous visual states can never be replicated\, and will never reoccur. \nThe Infinite Crystal Universe artwork is forever evolving\, changing moment to moment due to the people in the space. Pointillism uses an accumulation of distinct dots of color to create a picture. Here\, light points are used to create three-dimensional objects. This interactive artwork expresses the universe through accumulated light points that spread infinitely in all directions. People can use their smartphones to select elements that make up the universe by dragging them and releasing them into The Infinite Crystal Universe. Each element of the universe sent into the work influences that of other elements and is influenced by the presence of people in the space. \nThere are a lot more installations on-site\, so be sure to head there with the whole family! Kids are going to be thrilled with all the fun and interaction teamLab SuperNature allows. \nWhen: Daily\, 10:00am–10:00pm (last entry 9:15pm)\, June 15\, 2020 onwards \nWhere: Cotai Expo\, The Venetian Macao\, Estrada da Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança\, Cotai \nHow much: MOP $238 (adults)\, MOP $168 (children aged three to 12) \nFor more information\, check the event’s official website and buy tickets here \nteamLab. SUMMARY:A Place That Is Never on the Map Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Cai Guojie’s artworks might seem disparate at first glance\, yet they are always means with which he ponders and probes culture\, creations made from deconstruction and reconstruction. \nPainted in vivid colors\, landmarks in Macau such as St. Dominic’s Church and Rua da Cunha seem to wear the western skins in the paintings\, though in fact are built of the skeleton of ancient Chinese calligraphy. To put it precisely\, Cai always writes\, not paints\, his watercolor pieces; they are sigils of culture. \nTrained in installation art\, Cai is also fascinated by deconstruction and reconstruction. In the painting installation “St. Dominic’s Church”\, he decodes the lines and color patches within the painting and reproduces in three-dimensional space a new church\, like a strange stainless-steel bonsai. Lines in disarray\, layers cut out and reorganized\, the appearance of the object is shattered. In this grotesque anatomy\, his artistic statement comes to light forthright. \nPreviously in the “Half-Field Plan”\, Cai\, served as a boundary manager\, auctioned these spaces to participants and sparked a discussion on land ownership and use right. Here he becomes a worker who collects dust and grits between the Portuguese calçadas outside the gallery\, with which he welds into a weight\, the essential measurement tool for scales in ancient China. Interestingly\, “Quan”\, or weight\, can be literally translated as “power” or “right” in Chinese. Now the trivial dirt between tiny cracks can actually hold sway. Perhaps\, the purest form of power can only be found in the most marginal space where no one touches. Always cocooning reason with beauty\, Cai Guojie’s artworks are vessels of his unwavering position for culture\, which he holds dear and never compromises. \nWhen: July 20–August 22\, 2020 \nWhere: Creative Macau–Center for Creative Studies\, G/F Macau Cultural Centre Building\, Avenida Xian Xing Hai\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:"Dino Art Toy BOOM" Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition can be divided into three parts. The first part is a timeline. Including Siomeng’s growth\, experience\, the birth of Dino and OO Adventure\, future trends\, and so on. This is a process of self-examination\, it turns out that it was not an impulse to devote himself to toy creation\, but the past experience and accumulation that made today’s creation a reality. The second part is some artworks that presented on different media\, materials\, and manifestations. \nThe last part\, cooperating with 30 creative units in different fields of the world. This is an experiment that tries to find out the limit of art toys. Artists have used over 50 types of materials on their cooperation works and explore the various possibilities of art toys. Everyone enjoys the process of “playing” and attracts people who look forward to the finished product. \n“Dino” is the protagonist in the original story “OO Adventure” created by Macau artist: Siomeng Chan. “Art toy” is a new artistic expression that presented on toys\, and originated in Hong Kong in the 1990s. “BOOM” means an explosion. It gives people a feeling of naughtiness and liveliness which is one of the motivations of Siomeng’s creation. On the other side\, it is a process from 0 to 1\, and there has never been an art toy exhibition in Macau. This is the process of “none” to “being”. “BOOM” is a starting point\, a beginning in Macau. \nThe artist\, Siomeng Chan\, loves nature\, to travel and to create. Through the process of understanding the culture\, life\, art\, and happiness of different places\, he understands himself and others more\, thereby to perform better creation. Longing to travel around the world in one day. \nWhen: July 27–August 29\, 2020 \nWhere: At Light\, 1 Pátio do Padre Narciso\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, call +853 6595 7203 or check the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:Uncertainties: PRD Post-pandemic Contemporary Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition Uncertainties: PRD Post-pandemic Contemporary Art Exhibition explores this 2020’s most problematic and worldwide theme: the coronavirus pandemic. According to the curator\, it’s a reflection of the future and what it may represent for nations all over the world. \n“”Post-pandemic” era refers to the adaptation period that we prepare to coexist with the virus\, with all the uncertainties of the past and present and the future. The best-case scenario we can hope for is\, a vaccine would be found and the pandemic would be fully contained in the near future. On the other hand\, the most pessimistic\, worst-case scenario could be: the coronavirus mutates and yet we fail to develop a vaccine and the outbreak spikes again. How can we predict these? Meanwhile\, in any case\, in the context of today’s global geopolitics\, everything is uncertain and uncertainty is everything. \nIn the exhibition\, four sections crisscrossing each other\, altogether creating the exhibition’s “temperament” in a mysterious way. Confronting the current turbulence and insecurity with keen perception\, participating artists converse with and reflect on the reality and the future world through their works. And beyond this exhibition\, we will continue to live with the pandemic and incertitude in the days to come.” \nThe exhibition is divided into four different sections and it’s curated by Wang Jing (Independent Curator)\, Wu Jing (curator of OCT Boxes Art Museum)\, He Junyan (independent curator) and Noah Ng (president of Ox Warehouse). \nWhen: Daily\, 12:00pm–7:00pm\, July 30–September 6\, 2020 \nWhere: Ox Warehouse\, 15 Rua do Volong\, GF\, 1F & 2F Gallery\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:“I’ll Be Gone You’ll Be Gone” – Works by Yves Étienne Sonolet
DESCRIPTION:Featured image above: “Until the End of Time”\, by Yves Étienne Sonolet \nYves Etienne Sonolet is a French visual artist working with video and installation. He has settled in Macau since 2008. In his work\, he has a strong interest in questioning cultural identity and dissecting the urban environment\, which he expresses through exhibitions\, multimedia creations\, and adapting video for stage productions. \nIn Macau\, in the most densely populated region of the world\, in which Yves has become a resident for 12 years\, we are discovering our historical center without crowds once again due to the closedown of the borders from tourists. In the artwork “Possible Paths”\, Yves has created an interactive video installation in which as the audience approaches the screen\, the people in the video disappear gradually\, leaving St Paul’s Ruins standing still\, almost 400 years after being built. \nYves has a wide range of interests. Be it in sociology\, politics\, culture\, technology\, history\, and certainly\, in art\, his enthusiasm to think critically seems to be indefatigable. As an artist\, Yves has a remarkable talent to the imaginative and the humorous\, based on which he takes his creative pleasure by means of “appropriation” and “détournement” of usually somewhat boring everyday objects\, such as turning empty packs of cigarettes into a Karaoke singing machine. \n“As we observe in his work “Until the End of Time”\, the women featured on the warning messages of the cigarette packs opening their mouths to sing “Love me Tender”\, we are introduced into a strange process of communication in which no certainty or conclusion is to be drawn. Rather\, it is the questioning that confirms.”\, the curator says. \nWhen: July 31–August 28\, 2020 \nWhere: AFA\, 4F Art Garden\, 265 Avenida Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check their Facebook page

SUMMARY:“City” – Macau Woodblock Print Association Members Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:In 2019\, two artists–one from Hong Kong and another from Taichung\, Taiwan–together with a curator from Macau\, came up with the title “City” as the association’s first exhibition. “City has no borders. It is not a country. In this global context\, a city can only give you a little bit background of what culture you are\, but cannot define the person”\, the association explains. \n“Now I look back at all the artworks that we have gathered–they come from Fukuoka\, Guangxi\, Hong Kong\, Hubei\, Kvam\, Macau\, Osaka\, Shenzhen\, Taichung and Tokyo\, the topic “City” generated a more profound idea. It is not about a place\, they are about the people who surround us or things that we get into and inspired us”\, curator Mel Cheong says. \nWhen: August 2–31\, 2020 \nWhere: Jao Tsung-I Academy\, 95 C-D Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, call 6664 8809 or send an email to melcheong7@icloud.com

SUMMARY:Involuntary Landscapes – New Photography Works by Hugo Teixeira
DESCRIPTION:“Involuntary Landscapes – New Photography Works by Hugo Teixeira” exhibition interprets the author’s attempts to piece together a historical and cultural consciousness lost when his family emigrated from Portugal and settled in California in the 70s. The artistic collection reflects the result of a number of crafted landscape photos from his travels in the California chaparral and the Portuguese montado. In doing so\, the present and past serve as lenses through which the other is interpreted. \nWhen: August 5–October 2\, 2020 \nWhere: Taipa Village Art Space\, 10 Rua Dos Clérigos\, Taipa Village \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, call +853 2857 6118 or check the organizer’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:Exhibition “Pirates in the Waters of Macao (1854-1935)”
DESCRIPTION:Featured image credit: Macao Cultural Institute \nThe exhibition “Pirates in the Waters of Macao (1854-1935)”\, is held from August\, 2020 till January\, 2021\, presenting the phenomenon of piracy in the surrounding waters of Macau and the multiple meanings it had for the city.  The word “pirate” conjures up the stereotype of adventures\, romances\, cruelties\, and barbarities\, which is a set of social representations cultivated fundamentally by literature and the film industry. \nHowever\, with a deeper study\, one can see that “piracy” is a particularly complex subject. The exhibition “Pirates in the Waters of Macao (1854-1935)” is a project that aims\, on the one hand\, to encourage the public and researchers’ interest in the study and investigation of this subject and to give an account of the different dimensions of the phenomenon of piracy as a social practice in a much wider political\, economic\, social and cultural system; and\, on the other hand\, to showcase a particularly rich collection of documentation preserved in the Macao Archives. \nThe exhibition features a selection of over 100 documents\, maps\, and photographs from the Macau Archives’ collection that addresses the theme of piracy in the Pearl River Delta region\, thereby revealing the diversity and thematic amplitude of the documentation\, as well as developing knowledge about the multiple meanings of the phenomenon of piracy for Macau in the second half of the 19th century to the first decades of the 20th century. \nWhen: August 19\, 2020–January 31\, 2021 \nWhere: Macao Archives\, 91–93 Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information check the organizer’s official website or click here

SUMMARY:"I Have Wiped the Pen on the Paper So Often It Seems Like a Drawing" – an Exhibition by Rui Rasquinho
DESCRIPTION:The work presented in “I have wiped the pen on the paper so often it seems like a drawing” is the result of the New Visions project by the cultural organization BABEL\, which annually presents an artist from Macau and whose central objective is to support contemporary artistic creation as well as to produce a critical discourse capable of placing local creation in a national and global context. In “I have wiped the pen on the paper so often it seems like a drawing” Rui Rasquinho explores the possibilities of drawing. In the entrance lobby of the Orient Foundation\, several leaflets on xuan paper are presented\, a practice that is already known to the local public and which appears here as a prelude to the questions that arise throughout the remaining three galleries. \nThe show evolves to work with a more complex definition\, first through a diversification of the supports\, giving the role of xuan instead of wood and other materials used in construction sites\, presented in the second gallery of the exhibition. The third and fourth gallery feature drawing machines (one of which was created in collaboration with Rui Farinha) that pose a variety of questions: what is a drawing? what is an image? what is art? what is authorship? \nWhen: August 20–September 22\, 2020 \nWhere: Casa Garden\, 13 Praça de Luís de Camões\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the organizer’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:Unreturned Wanderer – Works by Leong Chi Mou
DESCRIPTION:Leong Chi Mou’s solo exhibition\, “Unreturned Wanderer – Works by Leong Chi Mou”\, organized by the Macau Art For All Society is part of the “Urban Identity” New Immigrants Artists Exhibition Series. Using Chi Mou as his pseudonym\, the original name of the artist is Leong Chi Hou. He was born in China in 1991 and moved to Macau afterward. In 2015\, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree from the School of Arts of Macau Polytechnic Institute\, major in oil painting. \nLeong uses the following methods of work in his creative process: 1. Transplanting contexts of images. 2. Explaining the reasonability of the ambiguous interpretations within a specific statement in a certain context. 3. The appropriateness of misplaced identity. Chi Mou is a person with a story\, and the story leads to creation. In this world where nothing is new\, the story is as the ancient poet has written\, “not supposed to be the same yet ought to be the same from the ancient ones; not supposed to be different yet ought to be different from the ancient ones”. Comparing to the story of Chi Mou\, it is an experience of painting and decorating the surface of a gold watch\, leading to paintings\, his recognition of the social decency showed-off by the gold watch is an admission ticket that he can hold on\, and the content of the picture also uses factors that are popular in the current society. \nThe language of expressions also adopts the techniques that are popular in the contemporary art industry (dislocation\, collage). This work led to mild criticisms and adopted a tension state of mind that both opposes and agrees so that the reserved paraphrase dimension is no longer inappropriate. In this way\, viewers are led to a space where they can judge by themselves and are free to extract any imaginations they need from Chi Mou’s works. \nWhen: September 5–30\, 2020 \nWhere: AFA\, 4F Macau Art Garden\, 265 Avenida Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:MO2049 – Sci-fi Works by Ricardo Lima
DESCRIPTION:This sci-fi works exhibition entitled “MO2049” presented by Portuguese concept artist and illustrator Ricardo Lima. This exhibition is inspired by worlds created in sci-fi films\, namely Blade Runner (1982)\, Akira (1988)\, Total Recall (1990)\, Ghost in the Shell (1995)\, Fifth Element (1997) and Dredd (2012). Ricardo Lima has taken this opportunity to develop a personal project using Macau\, a place he has never visited before\, as the backdrop for a film viewed through a dystopian lens. Lima’s science fiction narrative depicts the relationship between megacities and mother nature as the cycle of change accelerates towards an anthropogenic future. \nWhen: October 7\, 2020–January 8\, 2021 \nWhere: Taipa Village Art Space\, 10 Rua Dos Clérigos\, Taipa \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the organizer’s Facebook page or their website

SUMMARY:Surfing – Zheng Wenxin’s Solo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Entitled “Surfing”\, the exhibition features oil paintings and installation works. The artist’s oil paintings are popular for their graceful colors and beautiful brushstrokes. Thanks to the images conveyed by the “new medium”\, the pure visual materials in these pieces of art are elevated as the dominant elements of painting. \nThrough the immediacy and synchronization of the images released in different media\, a novel “time” experience belonging to both the collective and the individual can be realized. At the same time\, the contrast between oil paintings and installations investigates the mode and style of life in the Internet age\, as both the exporter and attractor of big data for mankind. \nWhen: September 12–October 31\, 2020 \nWhere: At Light\, 1 Pátio do Padre Narciso\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check their website or Facebook page

SUMMARY:Macau Experimental Video Festival (EXiM 2020)
DESCRIPTION:Called the “2+1+2 Program”\, EXiM 2020 kicks off with “Straightforward – Works by Chen Qiang” and “Heart to Heart – Experimental Video Exhibition”. Since 2018\, EXiM has been presented in exhibition format instead of screening. Works will not merely be screened\, but also be displayed via video installation. Doing so can better reflect the diversity in the creation of contemporary experimental image. \n“The year 2020 started in a weird way\, with the smartest creatures on the planet beginning to fear a virus emerging from nowhere absurdly. It is impossible to present an exhibition without exploring our current anxiety at this moment in time. When sorting out my past works\, I found that my thoughts on the living environment were buried in the “evolution” of my art. With the passage of time\, I have been constantly upgrading the accuracy of my focus in my works. These pieces directly and straightforwardly depict individual struggle and revel in the social tide.”\, the author of the works presented at “Straightforward”\, Chen Qiang\, explains. \nThe Chinese title of the exhibition comes from an old Hong Kong movie\, Sworn Brothers (Chinese:《肝膽相照》\, whose exact meaning is ‘to be trusted friends treating each other with sincerity’.) I chose the title for this event\, a showcase of Chinese experimental videos. In the midst of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic\, I invite artists whose cities have just endured (or are still experiencing) long days of panic. The selected works are not just about the pandemic\, but about “life” at this very moment. \nMacau Experimental Video Festival: “Heart to Heart” – Experimental Video includes the works of the following artists: Chen Chen\, Lu Changbu\, Pu Yue Mei\, Wenhua Shi\, Tan Tan\, Tao Tao\, Zhou gang and Zhou zhang.\nWhen: September 17–October 18\, 2020 \nWhere: Ox Warehouse\, 15 Rua do Volong\, GF\, 1F & 2F Gallery\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, call +853 2853 0026\, send an email to oxwarehouse@gmail.com or \ncheck the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:2020 ARTFEM Women Artists International Biennial of Macau
DESCRIPTION:As the only women artist international biennial\, ARTFEM targets to contribute to greater visibility of women artists in the contemporary world and to a (re)discovery of the art of women who have played a socially and culturally significant role\, gearing local arts towards international standards and bringing more dynamic and plentiful artistic experiences to the public and tourists. The work by women artists is increasingly showcased internationally; other Biennales of the past also had the merit to expose the need for female institutional representation\, even if these outstanding projects did not survive the test of time. ARTFEM is devoted to being an exception\, by maintaining the project in a city renowned as the location of important international events. \nFollowing the success of ARTFEM 2018\, with over 100 works from established and emerging artists from the five continents\, ARTFEM 2020 features 142 works created between 2018 and 2020 by 98 women from 22 countries who are working actively as artists. 13 of the participating artists are from China\, 16 from Portugal\, 31 from Macau\, seven hail from Hong Kong\, two from South Korea\, one from Japan\, but also from Indonesia\, France\, Spain\, the US\, Canada\, and many others. \nThis multimedia show displays painting\, sculpture\, ceramics\, installation\, drawings\, silkscreen on diverse media\, video\, and photography. The exhibition aims to bring to the fore urgent discourses on the environment\, including its protection or devastation\, the relationship of humanity with nature\, while containing a localizing “gaze” onto social aspects that result from its location in Macao SAR\, the Pearl River Delta Region and the COVID-19 pandemic crisis that affected the world since December 2019. \nThe curatorial team dispersed the show in the Macau Peninsula to allow a “biennale feeling” to its viewers\, who wander around town while searching for artworks. While the curatorial intention considered occupying and intervening in the public space\, the COVID-19 crisis has provoked that the exhibitions happen solely indoors. \nARTFEM’s curatorial team is comprised of Arch. Carlos Marreiros\, President of ARTFEM Organizing Committee and Head Curator for this edition\, and co-curated by China-based Angela Li\, who brings a Chinese-focus; the Macau-based duo Alice Kok and James Chu\, who selected local Macau artists as well as Hong Kong ones\, and Leonor Veiga\, a Macau SAR Permanent Resident who curated\, along with Carlos Marreiros the international selection of artists. In the meantime\, renowned Chinese artist Xiang Jing and Macau artist Un Chi Iam are the Godmothers of 2020 ARTFEM. \n2020 ARTFEM Women Artists International Biennial of Macau is open on September 30th until December 13th\, 2020\, and will be held in four separate art spaces in Macau\, including Albergue SCM\, Former Municipal Cattle Stable\, Galeria Lisboa\, and Orient Foundation with a mix of seminars\, workshops\, and tours\, so to encourage the participation of artists\, public and tourists. The admission is free. \nWhen: September 30–December 13\, 2020 \nWhere: Gallery A2\, Albergue SCM\, 8 Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the event’s Facebook page\, send an email to creativealbergue@gmail.com or call +853 2852 2550\, +853 2852 3205 \nArtist Xiang Jing

SUMMARY:50 degrees N • Watercolour Exhibition by Kim Mok
DESCRIPTION:At this exhibition\, the artist\, Kim Mok\, displays more than twenty watercolor works\, which record some of the scenes she saw while traveling. The works also depict some old streets and narrow alleys in Macau and show her feelings for those old buildings that have disappeared. Last year\, she chose to return to the city where she lived\, Brighton\, and hold her first solo exhibition. Her purpose is to take Brighton as a starting point for her art exhibition. This time\, she wants to continue this exhibition in Macau. In addition\, to show the public scenes that she recorded during her travel\, she also hopes to take this opportunity to promote watercolor art and let more people get to know her and her works. \nTired of an immutable life? Hate that you always go the same way and make the same mistakes? A trip away challenges your own habits and opens up your perspective and flexibility in looking at things. It lets you temporarily break out of that boring routine\, re-plan your own direction\, and inject new energy into your future”\, the exhibition’s curator explains. \nKim Mok was born and grew up in Macau. She obtained a master’s degree in Industrial Design from the University of Saint Joseph and a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the School of Visual Arts of Macao Polytechnic Institute. She has loved painting since she was a child. She has a special fondness for watercolor art and has explored in the field of watercolour for many years. \nDuring the past decade\, she participated actively in painting exhibitions organized by art organizations and also in public painting competitions in Macau\, she has won various awards from these painting competitions. In order to focus on research and improve her watercolor technique\, she gave up her job four years ago and went to the UK to study and travel to broaden her horizons. During her studies\, she often went to art galleries to practice painting with local artists and exchange painting techniques. She also traveled extensively to various European countries to learn about the cultural history and customs of people in different countries\, in order to combine the bits and pieces of the journey into a personal exhibition. \nWhen: October 10–30\, 2020 \nWhere: Green Houses\, 55-57 Avenida Coronel Mesquita Road\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the event’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:Art Power Jamming – Friendship Chapter: “Taste in City” by Vanda Chan
DESCRIPTION:Ark-Association of Macau Art (the “AAMA”) exclusively presents an art program entitled “Art Power Jamming”\, under the theme of “Friendship Chapter”. The program\, which is sponsored by the Macao Foundation\, and supported by the Creative Industries Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Church District and 10 Fantasia\, features seven unique shows presented by six Macau artists (members of AAMA) with diverse backgrounds. The exhibition series runs from August 2020 until July 2021. \nVanda is a Macau designer\, illustrator\, and freelance painter. Most of her creative inspiration comes from people\, animals\, and interesting things in her daily life\, hoping to explore new ideas to evoke her creativity. \n“With the rapid development of the city where Chinese and Western cultures co-exist\, you will encounter different kinds of small shops hidden in the corners of the city. They are still working hard to create a unique taste of this city. From a child to growing up to work in this society\, I visit some small shops and eateries occasionally. It might be caused by my childhood taste preference\, KOLs’ recommendation\, time limitation which makes me eat simply\, or evoking the nostalgic taste or remembrance of someone! Perhaps the city has lost its nostalgic flavor. Whether there is still human touch or not\, I still love to savor the unique taste of this city\,” the artist explains. \nWhen: October 10–November 27\, 2020 \nWhere: Creative Industries Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Church District\, 10 Fantasia\, 10 Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the organizer’s Facebook page

SUMMARY:"Into The Light" – Solo Exhibition of Sisi Wong
DESCRIPTION:“Into The Light – Solo Exhibition of Sisi Wong” is Macau artist Sisi Wong’s solo exhibition to take place in AFA Macau. Organized by the Macau Art For All Society\, this showcase is part of the “New Generation．New Media” – Art Exhibition Series. Sisi Wong was born in Macau and moved to Taiwan when her childhood. She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the Fine Art Department from the National Taiwan University of Arts\, majoring in mixed media. She now lives in Macau and engages in visual art education. \nHer type of creation is mainly photography\, image installation\, and video art\, combining “light”\, “image” and “visual perception” as the main axis of creation\, looking for the essence of the “consciousness”; and “self-existence”; belonging to the individual in the photographic vocabulary. The solo exhibition “Into The Light”; was started by the work “Pantheon”; shot in Rome\, which shows that she is trying to express herself while looking back to the art history of light by taking the physical and mental inspiration from this majestic historical building. The entire work focuses on the “oculus”; (Latin for “eye”) on the huge dome\, which is the only light source of the entire building\, like the eye of God\, which clearly declares the sacredness of light and its connection with vision. \nWhen: October 11–November 6\, 2020 \nWhere: AFA\, 4F Art Garden\, 265 Avenida Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues\, Macau \nHow much: Free admission \nFor more information\, check the organizer’s Facebook page
