SUMMARY:Macao Orchestra's “Summer Episodes” Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:The Macao Orchestra\, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC\, from the Portuguese acronym)\, will resume its performances from July onwards\, presenting four concerts including classical symphonies\, chamber music and youth concerts for classical music aficionados\, welcoming the summer with wonderful melodies. \nThe Macao Orchestra holds the concert “Classical Express – Back for Fun”\, integrated with the OM Young Audience Programme Activity\, on 18 July\, at the Dom Pedro V Theatre. SUMMARY:Feast of Kuan Tai 2020
DESCRIPTION:The Feast of Kuan Tai is a religious custom to commemorate Guan Yu who was also known as “Guan Gong.” Guan Yu\, whose style name is Yunchang\, was a general of Shu during the Three Kingdoms period and the sworn brother of Liu Bei. After his death\, Guan Yu was entitled as the “Saint of War” as a symbol of “Loyalty.” \nOver the history\, he had had many titles such as “Kuan Tai” and “Saintly Emperor Guan.” Kuan Tai is a popular worship idol in Macau; almost every shop places a Kuan Tai statue for worship. Many Kuan Tai temples are built\, such as the Kuan Tai Temple at Sam Kai Vui Kun\, the Kuan Tai Temple near Cheoc Ka Village in Taipa and more. Besides\, there are two days to celebrate Kuan Tai’s birthday: the thirteenth day of the fifth lunar month and the twenty-fourth day of the sixth lunar month. \nOn these two days\, believers offer fresh flowers\, burn joss sticks and various offerings to worship Kuan Tai at home. The sports association in Macao\, social communities and shops\, in particular\, organize various activities to celebrate Kuan Tai’s birthday. The Lost Prince takes place on August 27 in French with English and Chinese subtitles. \nRocca Changes the World is on the next day\, at the same time. The movie’s in German language\, with Chinese and English subtitles\, while Maya the Bee – The Honey Games happens on August 29\, at 11:00am and has Chinese subtitles. Also the same day\, Cattle Hill and JerryMaya’s Detective Agency – The First Mystery are screened at 2:30pm and 7:30pm\, respectively (Norwegian and Swedish with English and Chinese subtitles). \nBallad from Tibet\, Moominvalley and Harvie and the Magic Museum all take place on ARTmusing Film Carnival 2020’s last day\, August 30\, 2020.
