DESCRIPTION:Movie Still One to Ten Movie \nCinematheque Passion once again presents remarkable and new local works at Macao Films Panorama 2020 from May 8 to 24\, 2020. Various sessions bring features\, documentaries\, and animations—most of which are shorts. Apart from local works\, it also features recommendations from festivals in China\, Hong Kong\, and Taiwan. \nThe Cinematheque is to host the debuts of the works selected from Local View Power\, an event organized by the Macao Cultural Centre. These include recent works by experienced documentary filmmakers: Wong Keng Tang’s About Time and Lei Cheok Mei’s The Lily Yet To Bloom; by directors who participated in Macao Films Panorama\, such as Ho Kueng Lon with Light of Life\, Lao Keng U\, with A Void Without A Face\, Loi Chi Iong\, with COC00N\, Jody Lei\, with Marriage\, Andy Kam\, with Singing Hearts\, Mak Kit Wai\, with One Last Time\, Ray Loi\, with PP Goes to the Nursery\, Catherine Ho\, with 70 Years Later\, Christy Cheang\, with Stay With Me\, Hoi Weng In\, with Cross-boundary Student\, Iao Fong Lam\, with Fisher and Fishy\, and Sam Lam with Santa Claus Is Late. Lou Ka Choi and Leong Kin return with heart-warming animation The Valley of Ginseng. \nIn addition\, Maxim Bessmertny’s humorous The Handover will open the festival\, along with Luo Jian’s What Do You Know About the Water and the Moon?\, from China\, Chen Kuan-Chung’s Be Shit Or Not To Be\, from Taiwan\, and Ng Kai-chung’s Another World\, from Hong Kong. \nMovie still from What do You Know About the Water and the Moon \nThere’s also a category entitled “local indies force” and the variety of genres and styles is remarkable. Hong Kong renowned film critic Ka Ming has been invited to host the judging panel and has finally selected fifteen works: Vincent Sin’s Step Out\, Akiaya Macao Overlook\, Cheong Chi Wai’s The Son\, Kong Cheang’s Goodbye Again\, Macao\, Ho Sok Ieng’s Candy Coated Poison\, Jenny Wan’s Lonely Encounter\, Lei Meng Lou’s Time Together\, Teng Kun Hou’s One to Ten\, Ng Weng Ian’s Take A Risk\, Chiang Kun Ieong’s Monodrama and Kaleidoscope\, Keng U Lao’s The Wanderer\, Panda Chan’s The Taste of Reunion\, Ho Kueng Un’s That Girl and Allen Ho’s I Was Born. \nAs for the Macao Feature Films section\, it presents two new films that came out in the last few months of 2019. The Years of Macau brings together nine local filmmakers\, who produced stories in their own individual styles. They are a milestone in contemporary Macau cinema. Portuguese director António Caetano de Faria brings us a compelling story from Macau Stories 3: City Maze with new feature Ina and the Blue Tiger Sauna. Both features are produced by local director Tracy Choi Ian Sin. \nCurators from three film festivals—FIRST International Film Festival (Xining)\, ifva (Hong Kong)\, and Golden Harvest Awards for Outstanding Short Films (Taipei)—recommend riveting works for the festival. FIRST brings Chai Xiaoyu’s Fish Park and Luo Jian’s What Do You Know About the Water and the Moon?; ifva recommends KONGKEE’s\, Lee Kwok-wai’s and Tsui Ka-hei’s Dragon’s Delusion – Assassination\, Mak Siu-fung’s Infidelity\, Step Cheung’s Toxic Relationship\, Chan Kwun-chung’s\, Chang See-wan’s and Wong Tsz-yin’s Kin’s Hair\, Mok Chun-hei’s Lionverse\, Nicolas Lesaffre’s Wear Your Beautiful Life\, and Ng Kai-chung’s Another World.
