SUMMARY:Macao Orchestra's “Summer Episodes” Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:The Macao Orchestra\, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC\, from the Portuguese acronym)\, will resume its performances from July onwards\, presenting four concerts including classical symphonies\, chamber music and youth concerts for classical music aficionados\, welcoming the summer with wonderful melodies. \nThe Macao Orchestra holds the concert “Classical Express – Back for Fun”\, integrated with the OM Young Audience Programme Activity\, on 18 July\, at the Dom Pedro V Theatre. Under the baton of the Assistant Conductor of the Macao Orchestra\, Francis Kan\, music aficionados of all ages will be taken on a journey to the paradise of classical music in an intriguing and interactive way\, enjoying a pleasant time with families. \nLu Jia\, the Music Director of the Macao Orchestra\, conducts the Orchestra’s first large-scale symphony concert of the year\, “Beethoven Symphony No. 3” on 25 July\, at the Grand Auditorium of the Macao Cultural Centre\, presenting Beethoven’s classical Symphony No. 3\, demonstrating the immortal spirit of the musician. \nThe Macao Orchestra also presents the concert “Beethoven: An evening of chamber music” on 7 August at Dom Pedro V Theatre\, featuring two exquisite chamber works by Beethoven\, the String Quartet in B-flat Major\, Op. 18\, No. 6 and the Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat Major\, Op. 16\, as well as the Bassoon Quartet in G minor\, Op. 73\, No. 3 by French composer François Devienne in the late 18th century\, offering classical music aficionados a veritable musical feast that has a captivating blend of elegance. \nUnder the baton of the Assistant Conductor of Macao Orchestra\, Francis Kan\, the concert “The Encounter of Beethoven and Haydn” presents Haydn’s last Symphony No. 104 in D major “London” and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1\, telling the story of the musical legacy of two legendary figures. \nWhen: Classical Express – Back for Fun – 11:00am and 2:30pm\, Saturday\, July 18\, 2020 \nBeethoven Symphony No. 3 – 8:00pm\, Saturday\, July 25\, 2020 \nBeethoven: An evening of chamber music – 8:00pm\, Friday\, August 7\, 2020 \nThe Encounter of Beethoven and Haydn – 8:00pm\, Thursday\, August 13\, 2020 \nWhere: Macao Cultural Centre\, Avenida Xian Xing Hai s/n\, NAPE\, Macau and Dom Pedro V Theatre\, Largo de Santo Agostinho\, Macau \nHow much: free admission \nRegistration is available on the official WeChat account and the Macao Orchestra Facebook page starting on July 10 (12:00pm). DESCRIPTION:This month\, the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra Association (YSO) presents a series of wonderful musical programmes for all the music lovers in town: “The 10th Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra Music Festival” takes world heritage sites and other unique architecture in Macau as a performance stage\, and brings wonderful melodies around the city with chamber music in the form of orchestral\, solos\, ensembles\, etc. Celebrating Beethoven’s 250th birthday\, the YSO presents “The Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra 23rd Anniversary Concert – Amazing Beethoven” to commemorate the legendary life of the composer and his masterpieces. \nGroups When Trumpet Meets Trombone and MYSO Harp Studio Recital perform on August 1\, while collectives Dancing by the stream Quintet and Principal Stage 2 – String Family take St. Lazarus Church’s stage the next day.
