The essence and introspection of contemporary western art in the works can be combined with eastern traditional art. With the hidden truth instantly revealed through space\, the exhibition showcases the daring tendencies of exploration in the new era. \n\n\nGabrielle Wambaugh is a French sculptor whose works are mostly ceramic and sculpture. Rubber\, chalk\, plastic\, fabric and other materials are used to convey the relaxation\, weakness\, and fatigue of her works through the density\, limit\, edge and state of these materials. Since 1993\, Gabriel has participated in the exhibitions at the Museum of the Capitol\, the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche Faenza\, the Musée Fabre in France\, the Sèvres Museum\, the Artist Gallery and so on. Works on display include sculptures\, large murals and photographs. \nSince 1998\, Gabrielle has held personal sculpture exhibitions at the Sorbonne Gallery\, the Domaine de Pont Aven\, the Universal Gallery and other art institutions in the United States\, South Korea and more. Her works have won numerous national and local awards. SUMMARY:Plastic Trees by Eduardo Leal
DESCRIPTION:Plastic Trees is an exhibition by Eduardo Leal\, opened to public at Fundação Rui Cunha until June 24. This series was made to call for attention to this problem\, focusing on the spreading of plastic bags on the Bolivian Altiplano\, where millions of bags travel with the wind until they got entangled in native bushes\, damaging the beautiful landscapes. Sadly these images don’t portray an isolated case\, they can be seen in many countries all over the world. \nPlastic Trees series was recognized with several awards such as the Sony World Photo Awards\, Estação Imagem (Portuguese Photojournalism Awards)\, Lens Culture Earth Award\, Moscow International Photo Awards and it was a finalist at the Atkins CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year. The project has been exhibited at the Somerset House and the Royal Geographic Society in London; at Kunst Haus Galley in Vienna\, Austria; at the Natuur Fryslân Museum in Holland and on a travelling exhibition in Portugal part of the Estação Imagem program. \nThe world consumes 1 million every minute\, it was consider by Guinness World Book of Records as “the most ubiquitous consumer item in the world”\, but the all useful plastic bag as become the main source of pollution worldwide. It can be found everywhere on the planet from seaside\, the bottom of the ocean\, the arctic and even at the top of the world\, on Mount Everest. Since most of the plastic isn’t biodegradable and it is a durable material it can last for hundreds of years in the environment. \nThe problem is even more acute in developing countries where waste management infrastructures are not really developed and where the population used to throw everything away\, was not educated to the long life of this material. This accumulation of plastic bags on the environment cause deterioration of the landscapes\, agriculture soils and it is associated to the death of domestic and wild animals. \nEduardo Leal is a Portuguese documentary photographer\, currently based in Macau. For several years he worked in South America for publications such as The Washington Post\, Time\, Al Jazeera America\, CNN\, Bloomberg\, The Guardian\, Dagens Nyheter\, Terra Mater Magazine\, among others. Eduardo was a consultant to The Arpad A. Busson Foundation in London. He was responsible for the “Cuban in Revolution” photography collection\, being part of the curatorial team for the exhibitions at International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York\, and at the Garage CCC in Moscow; and part of the editorial and design team on “Cuba in Revolution” book\, published by Hatje Cantz. SUMMARY:Marine and Water Bureau Day and Associated Activities
DESCRIPTION:Marine and Water Bureau Day is marked not only by a 24-hour period but also by a range of activities by that government unit throughout July. It includes the opening of the Guia Lighthouse–part of the UNESCO-listed Historic Centre of Macao\, and usually off-limits to visitors–to the public every weekend during the month. Entry to the Maritime Museum is also free of charge on selected days in July. During those particular days\, visitors can also try their hand at activities presented in several workshops. For the Marine and Water Bureau Fun Day (July 14)\, the Government Dockyard grants visitors the opportunity to board one of the bureau’s vessels or have their photograph taken standing next to it. Several booths offering games are also available on the site during the Fun Day\, to help visitors learn more about the work of the Marine and Water Bureau\, as well as about maritime safety and water conservation. Visitors can try their hand at tying seafarer knots or firing a water cannon. The exhibition showcases over 90 outstanding works from the MAM collection\, from oils\, acrylics\, and watercolor paintings\, to mixed-media paintings\, sculptures and installations that fully reflect the creative outcomes of contemporary artists\, as well as rich Chinese and Portuguese cultural connotations. The exhibition is open to the general public. \nThe exhibition features works by 60 artists\, including local Chinese and Macanese artists\, as well as Portuguese artists who have settled or exhibited in Macau\, presenting works by Júlio Pomar\, Vieira da Silva\, Bartolomeu dos Santos\, Luís Demée\, Carlos Marreiros\, Mio Pang Fei\, Kwok Woon\, Manuel Cargaleiro\, José de Guimarães and other masters. SUMMARY:International Youth Music Festival 2019
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Portugal\, music will be the element of communication of this event. With the invitation of youth orchestras from Portugal and regions and countries along the Belt and Road\, they will collaborate with local youth orchestras to present spectacular and diverse performances. DESCRIPTION:Continuing the momentum of Art Macao\, Melco presents “Journey”\, a diverse selection of works inspired by the highly varied culture of anime. Forming part of Melco’s contribution to Art Macao: International Art Exhibition\, this unique exhibition is a visual adventure that explores the evolution of contemporary Japanese anime from its beginnings rooted in ukiyo-e\, the traditional art of Japanese woodblock print and painting. \nThe visual references of anime abound in Japan and beyond are seen as a visual signature of the nation.  Both the contemporary genres of anime and manga can trace their roots and influences in the woodblock art form of ukiyo-e and its Edo period heroes. Today\, its influences can be readily identified in such varying media as computer games\, toy culture\, and the work of multimedia artists around the world. This first-of-a-kind exhibition for Studio City Macau includes such highlights as Amanami Animated by MAP Office\, Mr Waterloo by Rainbo\, Waves in Time by Southbend\, Blingee by Han Yanjuan\, and the “Modern Art of Floating World” collection by Horihiro Mitomo and Ukiyoemon. \nAmanami Animated \nAmanami Animated is a contemporary animated drawing from the roots of the Edo period in Japan\, from ukiyo-e\, and from the Japanese contemporary expression of the history\, culture and traditions of the ama-san free divers who work in the Bay of Ise in Japan. This animation revisits and reimagines the patterns of the genre ukiyo-e\, not as a technique\, but as a fictional ethnographic representation of the coastal landscape during the Edo period. \nThe story is divided into eight scenes\, framed by a screen and defined by three main tableaux–water (blue)\, land (green)\, and home (yellow). The eight panels depict scenes derived from specific sets of narratives\, which are combined with a collection of myths\, beliefs and dreams that were collected by the artists during many trips to Japan. In this contemporary interpretation of the ukiyo-e\, the numerous drawing layers made by a computer replaces the traditional wood block and colored print processes. \nIn addition to “Journey”\, the installation of vibrant activations and cartoon characters designed by Hiroshi Yoshii has transformed Studio City Macau’s main lobby into an exciting world of Japanese anime.
