SUMMARY:Macao International Dragon Boat Races 2019
DESCRIPTION:Dragon boat\, voluntarily organised by the community\, was not an annual event in Macau’s pre-1979. Since then however\, the activity has been promoted as an annual international dragon boat race. Athletic teams from different countries are invited to Macau to participate in this sports event enriched with traditional features. Dragon boat teams from Hong Kong\, Japan\, the U.S.\, the Philippines\, China\, Thailand\, Singapore\, Korea\, Australia and Europe frequently participate in the races. \nSince the founding of the Macau Special Administrative Region\, the Macao International Dragon Boat Races have been jointly organised by the Sports Bureau and Macau China Dragon Boat Association. While dragon boating is a widely popular festive activity in Macau during the Dragon Boat Festival\, the Macao International Dragon Boat Races have grown to become an important sports event in the territory. Year by year\, the event has become larger in scale and attracts an increasing number of participants. Thousands of skilled athletes from home and abroad gather annually in Macau to participate in this significant event. In 2001\, the International University Student Dragon Boat races for men and women were included in the programme. \nIn the past\, the races primarily took place on Nam Van and Sai Van Lakes. DESCRIPTION:16 national teams (12 core teams and four challenger teams) will compete in a five-week preliminary round in 20 cities around the world. There will be four legs in the preliminary round each week and three days of matches among four national teams will be held at each leg\, equaling a total of 120 matches in the five-week preliminary round. Macau will host one of the preliminary legs. \nThe four participating teams—China\, Belgium\, Korea and Thailand— will strive for the best ranking in the league in Macau. Fierce competition is expected this year among four strong teams: China\, winners of the Jakarta Palembang Asian Games and current world number two team; European powerhouse Belgium; and the outstanding Korea and Thailand. Two matches will be staged on each day of the three-day event: May 28 is Belgium vs Korea and China vs Thailand competitions\, while Korea vs Thailand and China vs Belgium is held on May 29 and Belgium vs Thailand and China vs Korea\, on May 28. \nAfter the preliminary round\, the top five national teams and the team of the host country (disregarding its total score in the preliminary round) will compete in the finals in two groups of three teams. The three teams will play in a round match and the top two teams in each group will enter the semi-finals. SUMMARY:Light The Night Run 2019 at The Parisian Macao
DESCRIPTION:Following the success of last year’s inaugural event\, The Parisian Macao will stage the second Light The Night Run charity vertical race up its iconic half-scale Eiffel Tower on Saturday\, April 13 as part of a wellness and fitness fun weekend (April 13 and 14) incorporating health-orientated activities\, education\, music and cuisine. This year’s Light The Night Run 2019 has been extended to two days. Entrants can register at the General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM) office from now until March 30. The full run is approximately 6\,500 metres\, plus the Eiffel Tower’s 750 stairs and the time limit for this is 1.5 hours. The Tower Fun Run is around 200 metres\, plus the Eiffel Tower’s 750 stairs with a time limit of 30 minutes for completion. \nLight The Night Run invites professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts looking for a unique challenge to attempt to climb the 750 steps to the tower’s 37th floor observation deck finish line. Last year the Full Run was booked out in the first two days with over 530 contestants registering to take part in the run around The Venetian Macao and The Parisian Macao before tackling the challenging ascent\, and the Tower Fun Run which incorporated only the tower climb. \n \nThis year’s event is aiming to secure 600 contestants for the Full Run\, so runners are advised to register early. The challenge has also been ramped up\, with participants now required to run twice around The Venetian Macao and The Parisian Macao before taking on the tower. The Tower Fun Run remains unchanged. All registration fees for the event will be donated to Macau IC2 Association to sponsor its upcoming Art for Community event\, and to Caritas Macau to allow its users with restricted mobility to gain free access to its stair climber service and make it easier to get in and out of their apartments. \nAll competitors will receive a special memento from the day including a participation certificate\, while prizes will be awarded to the winners in each category. DESCRIPTION:The 2018 Macao Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon is taking place next 2 December! Organized by the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and the General Association of Athletics of Macau\, this event can be completed in one of three stages: marathon (42.195km)\, half marathon (21.0975km) and mini marathon (approx 5.5km). \nRecollecting the past\, the Panda Club first started to organize the event in 1981 under the partial sponsorship by various business organizations and social personnel’s support. With a heart of enthusiasm and devotion\, has linked up Macau\, Taipa and Coloane for the first edition of Macao International Marathon. Achieving the Macau marathon’s historical pioneering work and filled the yet developed marathon. That year\, the response was ardent\, participants’ age ranged from the eldest of fifty three to the youngest of twelve years old\, with a total of over four hundred athletes. Amongst them more than two hundred came from around the world especially for this event. At that time\, the competition has attracted the residents along the course to stay around and cheered for the athletes.
