The Macao Orchestra, conducted by Francis Kan, will perform a series of serenades at D. Pedro V Theatre. The event is part of the Macao Orchestra 2018-19 concert season. While most know a “serenade” to be a touching scene of a young man playing guitar and singing love songs under the moonlight in front of his lover’s window, actually during the classical period, the forms of performance became more flexible. Four serenades by Mozart, Beethoven, Reger, and Milhaud will be performed in this concert, allowing the public to discern how composers of different generations convey feelings through music.
Francis Kan will conduct the orchestra and the program will include Serenade in D Major, Op. 8, serenade in G Major for Flute, Violin and Viola, Op. 141a, Aspen serenade, Op. 361 and serenade No. 6 in D Major, K. 239 “Serenata Notturnaˮ.
