Estabelecimento de Comidas Medan is a traditional Indonesian food restaurant located close to Three Lamps District and Horta e Costa avenue. The atmosphere is welcoming, with warm lighting and several tables and seats for families and friends.
There’s a beautiful walls painted in pink and green with modern paintings resembling a forest. Staff is friendly and eager to help choosing if costumers aren’t familiarised with Indonesia food.
Signature dishes include several rice-based and noodles like laksa. Lampar ayam–little parcels of lemongrass sticky rice stuffed with chicken floss wrapped in banana leaf–is also a very sought-after dish. Mangga ketan hitam (mango and red sticky rice) and bugis–a sweet sticky pandan snack with a thick layer of salted coconut paste covering the green glutinous dough–are also very popular. Besides that they also have bangka singkong (cassava and coconut cake), talas (taro and coconut ball), and spekkut (thousand layers cake). The menu is wide and there’s an array of dishes and drinks to try, as well as snacks to take away.
