Continuing a long and important tradition, the Parish of St. Lazarus (St. Lazarus Church) will celebrate the Feast of St. Roque – ‘The Patron Saint against Plague’ – with a Solemn Mass at 9:30am, followed by a Procession of the statue of St. Roque around 10:20am through the surrounding streets of the district. Although the Feast of São Roque formally falls on August 17, in Macau it is always celebrated on the second Sunday of July in commemoration of prayers answered regarding a plague that swept Macau in years gone by.
