As the main venue of “Art Macao: International Art Exhibition”, the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) showcases artworks selected by hotels and integrated resorts, seeking to reveal the charm of contemporary visual arts in a variety of forms, including paintings, ceramic, sculptures and multimedia. Under the theme of “diversity”, it showcases the reality of social culture and artistic creation through crossover cooperation. By joining forces, several different hotels and properties lent their own art pieces in exhibition for MAM to show all, in a single place, several art forms from different epochs and times.
This includes Refik Anadol’s Macau Currents: Data Paintings, Wang Dongling’s Drinking Alone Under the Moon by Li Bai (2016), among others. The lending of these art pieces allows MAM to have one of the most complete, eclectic and diverse art exhibitions in the region.
The exhibition showcases works by Caroline Yi Cheng, Thilo Heinzmann, Herb Alpert, Refik Anadol, Gabrielle Wambaugh, Jennifer Wen Ma, Vipoo Srivilasa, Wu Guanzhong, Stéphane Bolongaro, Wang Dongling, Jason Walker, Paulo Corte-Real and many others. From video installations to painted murals, sculptures to paintings and so on, there is an array of contemporary art pieces to enjoy and appreciate in an exhibition really worth your while.
Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, “Art Macao: International Art Exhibition” is organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office, with pieces from exhibitions at Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, MGM, Sands China Limited, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau S.A. (SJM), Wynn Macau Limited, Nam Kwong Group Company Limited and four consulates in Hong Kong in Macau (Belgium, Italy, Hungary, Portugal and Japan). The idea, according to the organizers, is to “create a world-class exchange platform in Macau’s history by bringing together the works of local, mainland and overseas modern and contemporary artists”.
