Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot is back in the region, this time presented in a joint production by the Opera Hong Kong and the New York City Opera. If you missed Puccini’s masterpiece performance two years ago in Macau, this is your chance to experience Turandot. Made of three acts, this is an opera set in ancient Beijing. The emperor is seeking a fearless prince to take Princess Turandot’s hand in marriage with only one condition: the suitor must solve three riddles posed by the princess; any wrong answers would lead to execution. Prince Calàf is mesmerized by the unforgettable beauty of Turandot and is determined to risk his life to win her heart. Puccini’s final and unfinished opera continues to captivate worldwide audiences with the infusion of beautiful Chinese cultural elements. The characters reflect elements of Puccini’s life experience.
