This month’s inspiration for October reaches out to coffee lovers and any dessert fanatics as you bite into their fancy take on hazelnut coffee and chocolate raspberry layer cake. The Cake Shop at Grand Lapa offers a vast array of pastries and other indulgent treats. Their highlighted cake being the Grand Lapa cheesecake, we also have to surrender ourselves to their chocolate truffle cake. They also offer freshly baked cookies, homemade chocolates, customized cakes for celebrations and more. With 12 signature cakes always on the go, there’s also a monthly special that their pastry chefs test out from new inspirations and ideas. All cakes are offered with seasonal ingredients at limited quantities. It’s not surprising when a line forms in the mornings for these delicacies.
The first half of the hazelnut coffee and chocolate raspberry layer cake is an outer coating of hazelnut mousse with a touch of white sesame accompanied with a crunchy hazelnut sponge, followed by the other half of raspberry jelly sheet partnered with chocolate coffee mousse base. The clever addition of hazelnut bits gives it that extra texture that works perfectly with the taste of toasted coffee and the sweetness of the raspberries. Best served for brunch or dessert with a cup of hot tea or your favorite coffee.
