With roasted goose as their main signature dish–the black pepper roasted goose leg with noodles is recommended–Chan Kong Kei Roast Duck also serves delectable roasted duck, pork, and chicken. Highly popular amongst locals seeking an affordable yet flavorsome meal, the restaurant is always full. During peak hours, there’s usually a line of people crowding the entrance waiting for takeaway orders of meat with a side of plain rice.
Chan Kong Kei Roast Duck might be easy to miss, as it’s located on a secondary road behind BCM bank. Although it doesn’t feature a pinyin sign or name, it might be easier if one looks for bright red Chinese characters on a yellow background on the sides of the restaurant’s exterior. Staff is always busy, but happy to help with orders. There are also other items on the menu, such as stir-fried noodles or rice. Other meats include intestines, chicken’s feet, and more. Chan Kong Kei Roast Duck’s atmosphere is simple, with a few tables and benches for diners to sit in.
They also serve beer and soft drinks. When looking for the place or on a taxi, show the driver the restaurant’s Chinese name: 陳光記飯店. They have an English menu as well. Chan Kong Kei Roast Duck closes at 9:00pm, so it’s advisable to get there early to get the best freshly made items, either for dine-in or takeaway.
