Sum Yuen Buddhist Vegetarian Restaurant is a well-hidden vegetarian restaurant in tranquil Taipa, located inside Pou Tai Un Buddhist Monastery. It is hard to find a restaurant in Macau quite like this place. White-clothed tables, wooden chairs, and sculptures of happy Buddhas create a simple, yet welcoming and neat environment. Serving mostly Chinese vegetarian dishes and some Asian specialties like vegetable sushi rolls, Sum Yuen established itself as one of the best vegetarian restaurants in town.
The illustrated menu is extensive and portions are generous. Some highlights are marinated tofu and cabbage rolls. With a large variety of dumplings, buns, and other dim sum delicacies it makes a great spot and probably one of a kind in Macau for vegetarian yum cha.
Free parking is available.
