As the festive season fast approaches, cafes and restaurants are delving into various ways of attracting both locals and tourists alike, providing us with reasons to spend our extra free time in their establishments. After all, there is nothing better than a little Christmas essence to get us all giddy for the holidays, and the Louvre Cafe at City of Dreams is not one to miss out with its Christmas High Tea Set.
Located on the first floor, at the heart of City of Dream’s recently re-opened shopping area, the Louvre Cafe is set under a glass ceiling roof and boasts an alfresco-like dining area. Upon descent from the escalator that leads to the cafe, guests are greeted by lush greens and the aroma of various kinds of tea from the contemporary French team brand, Palais des Thes. Taking inspiration from European garden courtyards, the cafe is no doubt ideal for a nice, afternoon tea.
There are three delectable tea sets from the menu, with the standard being the Louvre Cafe Afternoon Tea Set. This features an assortment of delicacies, including our personal favorites, the great peas and sautéed seafood, raspberry cheesecake, mini mont-blanc, and of course, the French Macarons. The selection is updated every month or so, and this time because it’s Christmas season, there’s a handful of seasonal treats such as the gingerbread baby, Christmas panettone, and candied orange pound cake that made our mouths water just as our attendant served the beautifully prepared selection.
The Christmas Tea Set is priced at MOP $288 with a 10% service charge for two. But if you’re feeling a little more extravagant, you can opt for the other two sets, the Venus de Milo which is a fashionista’s favorite given the added chocolate “high heel” and “lipstick”; and Premium Champagne Caviar, which the name says it all.
All that is inclusive of your selected tea or coffee from a wide range of options. The Barista’s coffee special is what caught our immediate attention featuring five refined selection of coffee from Panama, Jamaica, Columbia, and Brazil. Upon choosing, you are also given a choice of a brewing process in which we opted for the vacuum press, and this was done right in front of us. For tea, our choice was from the Garden Infusion selection which were all absolutely caffeine free.
There’s also a few recommended bistro favorites to sample if you’re looking for a heavier savory indulgence. A must-try is the lobster sandwich with wasabi mayo and avocado, served with salad, fries, and a fresh tomato ketchup exclusively made for in-house use.
The Louvre Cafe is open from 10:00am to 8:30pm from Sunday to Thursday; and from 10:00am to 9:00pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and public holidays. It tends to get packed on weekends and holidays, so if you fancy a visit during the Christmas holidays, make sure you book a reservation in advance.
