“The World at Their Fingertips – Exhibition of Weaving, Dyeing and Embroidery Skill Art of Jiangsu Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region” takes place from 22 January to 16 February, at the Chun Chou Tong Pavilion of Lou Lim Ioc Garden, featuring the traditional craft skills and showcasing the unique artworks of weaving, dyeing and embroidery from Jiangsu Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Dedicated to the traditional crafts, the spring festival exhibition showcases over 200 pieces (sets) of the unique artworks from Jiangsu Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in a novel and intriguing way. Artworks from the two regions, which are representative areas of weaving, dyeing and embroidery skills of the Han Chinese and ethnic minorities, are known for their advanced craftsmanship.
Those from Jiangsu Province are exquisitely made with brightly coloured quality materials, while those from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region are created with a broad palette of colours and a strong ethnic touch. All the artworks are highly practical and highly valuable for research due to their embodiment of the cultural essence of China. In order to allow the public to experience the fun of craft-making, IC organizes a workshop of Jiangsu Sachet Fabric Art and another of Guangxi Tie-
dyeing, each in four sessions. Inheritors from the two regions are specially invited to introduce the sachet fabric making and the tie-dyeing skills. The workshops are held on 8 and 9 February and conducted in Mandarin. Each session of workshops takes two hours and is limited to 20 participants.
