Food and bar stations are available with a selection of food & beverages provided by their catering term Jazz Club de Macau & Sofitel Macau present “Sunset Jazz Live at Sofitel”. The event opens with the live performance of The Bridge, the Jazz Club de Macau’s resident band. Following by Brazilian jazz master Dr. João Marcos Mascarenhas (PhD), who has worked with jazz trumpet legend Randy Brecker, jazz harmonica and vibraphone player Hendrick Meurkens, guitar Asian hero Eugene Pao, singer Angelita Li, Jung Kung, pianist Ted Lo, Acconci brothers, and others.
The Music of Brazil encompasses various regional music styles influenced by African, European and Amerindian forms. After 500 years of history the Brazilian music developed some unique and original styles like choro, forró, frevo, samba, maracatu, bossa nova, MPB, and others. João’s Brazilian jazz incorporates all the styles above by mixing the vibrant Brazilian rhythms, grooves, and styles with jazz concepts of form and improvisation making this performance a unique act in Macau. The repertoire will be the crème de la crème of Brazilian instrumental music performing works by Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Jobim, João Donato, some originals and more.
Joining forces with João, they have Dulip Charith Wijesinha, aka DC, on drums bringing the energetic Brazilian grooves on drums and Simon Williams on percussion adding the exotic flavors of cuíca (Brazilian friction drums that sounds like a monkey) and the vibrant pandeiro (the heart of samba and choro). Followed by a Jam Session, where their Jazz Masters invite musicians from the floor to join the stage. Don’t miss it!

From the Park Lane Hong Kong Pullman, creative individuals who found passion early on in developing handcrafted and creative cocktails. From their humble beginning as bartenders in Ham&Sherry (Hueson) and Tropiary (Jason) to Maison Eight where they could evaluate together under the leadership of the bar legend Salvatore Calabresse. Sofitel’s house mixologist Hnin Pwint will also be serving.
