Green Cross Vet Clinic
Macau’s most well-known and credible veterinary hospital, Green Cross, is the kind of place you wish to visit as little as possible. Still, when you do need medical assistance for your fluffy family member, that’s where you want to go. The pet clinic was founded by a family of veterinary doctors in 2006. Since then, it has grown into two hospitals in Macau and Taipa treating all types of pets, including exotic ones. The 24-hour Taipa branch was recently expanded and renovated to a larger hospital equipped with the state-of-the-art medical technologies, separate consultation rooms for cats and dogs, and spacious cages for inpatients. Furthermore, Green Cross is the only veterinary hospital in the city with a CT scan, a significant aid for accurate diagnostics.
The staff here is qualified, friendly and rest assured, they will make sure your precious pet gets high-quality medical assistance and many calming pats.

Pet Garden Taipa
Being a responsible pet parent means ensuring your pet’s safety and welfare while you’re away on vacation and this is easily solvable in Macau. No need to worry about leaving your fur child behind, just check them into a dog hotel in Taipa. Here, they provide quality care for animals and genuinely love them. Most of the time, pets are kept in spacious cages in the lodging room or chill and play in the event room with other dogs. The staff regularly takes the pets out for walks and makes sure they are well fed.
One of the coolest features they offer is 24-hour access to their CCTV. Install the Yoosee app, request a QR-code from Pet Garden, and watch your fluffy friend snoozing comfortably in their spot. If that’s not enough, you can always send them a message via WeChat and check on your pet. The staff at Pet Garden would be happy to share some photos and videos to report on your pet’s comfortable stay.
You can ask Pet Garden for pick-up and drop-off as well. All the pets receive a bath before checking in too. Do note that to be able to stay at the hotel, the owners must bring proof of vaccination. Besides lodging service, Pet Garden does grooming for both dogs and cats and sells pet supplies, such as food and accessories.

APA (All pets allowed)
What to do when you need to take your fluffy friend somewhere in a different area of the city? How do you transport them considering no pets are allowed in taxis and public transport? Walking is not always an option, particularly when your four-legged companion doesn’t feel well. Luckily, there is APA, a small company run by a pet lover. Born in Lisbon and raised in Macau, Sara, the founder of APA, started the business in 2019 to help the community.
For a reasonable price, she would give a lift to your pets and their chaperones anywhere in the city. Furthermore, APA can buy pet supplies, including food and medicine, and deliver it to your door, only charging a small percentage. You can also rely on APA for pet sitting, and trail walks. Their services are flexible. As Sara puts it, make a request, and they will do their best to satisfy it.

Macao Municipal Kennel
Macao Municipal Kennel is not the most cheerful spot, as, among other services, there is pet cremation. But it is a necessary one to put into your address book if you need any of the following: pet’s license application and renewal, vaccination, microchip implantation, health certificates, and declaration for lost pets. An appointment is not required. Head to the kennel, and wait in line with other pets and their humans.
All the abandoned and stray pets usually end up here waiting for a human or private shelter to pick them up. Unlike private shelters, municipal kennels can only keep animals for a limited time.
Apart from the kennel in Macau, there is a second one in Coloane. However, it is only open on Monday, and the services are limited.

Animal Shelters
If you are not a happy pet parent yet, but considering becoming one, we recommend visiting one of Macau’s pet shelters, Masdaw and Anima. These two are private ones. Although the owners and volunteers do their best to give animals love and care, every dog or cat is better with their own loving family.
You can also adopt one of the dogs at the Macao Municipal Kennel, as these are the ones in need of urgent rescue. The governmental kennel gives animals limited time to be adopted before deciding whether to euthanize them.
