Macao Central Library is located at Tap Seac Square in a restored two-story heritage building that opened in 1983. However, the library’s history dates back to 1895 when it was settled in St. Augustine’s Church.
The library has a welcoming and bright main entrance with a blend of old and new in its interior. Besides conventional library services, Macao Central Library offers Macao information references, e-news, e-database, microfilm reading, and more.
Its collection comprises over 92,000 volumes, as well as hundreds of microfilms rolls, thousands of audiovisual materials, newspapers, and magazines. The library can fit up to 271 visitors and has a small balcony overlooking Tap Seac Square.
Opening hours: Monday from 2:00pm to 12:00am; Tuesday to Sunday from 8:00am to 12:00am
