Open to the public since 1986, Fernando’s Restaurant is probably one of the best-known Portuguese restaurants in Macau. Beloved for its alfresco area with a garden, cozy ambiance and Mediterranean vibes, Fernando’s has a large fan club in the city. Tourists and locals even from the furthest corners of Macau choose this restaurant on Hac-Sá Beach for dining out. The owner is always there to greet guests and escort them to their tables.
The food is as simple as it gets, but perfectly cooked following traditional recipes. Seafood is fresh and vegetables are tasty–thanks to their own garden where they grow herbs, tomatoes and all you need in a salad. They are one of the few places allowed to grill outside, so grilled dishes are also a good choice.
Most popular Fernando’s Restaurant dishes include the grilled cuttlefish–with sauce of olive oil, vinegar, a lot of onion, and some herbs–as well as their roasted codfish and the grilled chicken. The wine menu is not massive, but decent and reasonably priced, with a good selection of Portuguese wine. We’ve included Fernando on our list of best Portuguese restaurants in Macau, so take a look if you’re a foodie and looking to enhance your Portuguese cuisine knowledge. We had a dining experience at Fernando and here are our thoughts on it.
