The Lotus Square is located in Avenida de Amizade and features a lotus-shaped sculpture. This flower is the official symbol of Macau and that’s also a detail in the city’s flag. This sculpture is made of bronze and gilded, and its base is made of granite stones. Both the flags of Macau and China are hoisted every morning at 8:00am in this spot.
The sculpture was erected in 1999 to celebrate the return of Macau to China. Nowadays, this area is popular amongst skateboarders who look for more challenging areas.
