Macau is home to a growing number of millennials and a new breed of media-savvy talents keeping up with technology and business in the region. Finding a niche in the social media market, best friends Cassidy and Albertino founded their brainchild DYNO Productions over a shared passion for videography and creative arts. Confident about the market and declaring that they’re officially open for business, the dynamic duo has set their eyes on the fast-evolving scene and taking their business to new heights.
It’s no easy feat to be an entrepreneur in the city, but the enthusiasm is sky-high for these two talents. A mesh of their names Cassidy and Albertino–DYNO Productions is looking at an exciting year ahead.
Tell us a bit about your background and what you do.
Albertino: I’m from Macau and studied at IAFT in Hong Kong.
Cassidy: I’m taking a hotel and management course in IFT, Macau. We’ve known each other for eight or nine years and we met each other in high school and we just ended up being in the same group of friends.
How did your interest in videos develop?
Albertino: We’ve talked about this for quite some time. I love movies and when YouTube started booming we totally loved watching the videos and were inspired by it. We tried to do our own skits and we thought, imagine if we did this every day for a living. How awesome would that be?
Cassidy: We love making videos. It’s interesting and marks every experience in our lives captured in something so precious.
Do you have favorite videos or films?
Albertino: We are currently focusing on advertising-inspired videos. I really love movies and a memorable one would be Forrest Gump. I have a different perspective of the film every time I watch it. There’s always a new thought and that is timeless.
Cassidy: I love Interstellar! It’s a fantastic film.
What kind of mission or vision are you trying to convey?
Albertino: We promote different kinds of styles in terms of advertising. We want to tap social media because that form of media is rapidly growing. The kind of impact is humongous.
Cassidy: We think we are at a good place to launch this business and with great support from our family. We want to really show a strong presence with our videos.
What do you think audiences want? You are part of a new generation that use social media as a primary tool of expression.
Cassidy: It’s awesome to be young and start a business but this project is meaningful for us and this is something we are committed to do. We want to tap not just Macau but the region and really try to make an impact.
Albertino: I think as millennials social media is a huge part of our generation. And it’s not going away, it will continue to grow and we want to be on that rise too.
Any favorite places in Macau to take video?
We always look for places that don’t necessarily look like Macau. We want to show a different side of the city. While the main attractions and places would be casinos, we want to try places no one has explored before. We want to be bold, unique and original.
What’s coming up for you?
We’re working on film projects, one of which is a wedding video. It’s actually our first time but we want to explore that market as well and assess what we can do. We have advertising commissions, creative stuff and we plan to do short films each term. We are still at that stage of learning, but it’s the most pivotal part of a business venture. We are aiming to sustain the stability of Dyno Productions in a year.
