The Michelin street food festival at Studio City is back, and this year the table is set to reach even better heights. You know how much we love food festivals here at Macau Lifestlye, and we can’t wait to try this one! From 29th September to 2nd October, you can experience the flavors from all of Asia’s infamous street food under one roof. With so much delicious food to choose from, we have rounded up our favorites from some of the world’s best dishes on offer at the festival, to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the good stuff!
Taiwanese Sesame Chicken Noodle Soup
(See featured image above)
Though 13 may be an unlucky number to some, the subtle flavors of this dish took Chef Lin 13 years to perfect, and oh my has he gotten it right in that time! From the famed Nanjichang Night Market in Taipei, a well-known foodie haven, this light and aromatic dish is a delight both to taste and smell!
Soya Sauce Chicken Rice
Singaporean chef Chan Hon Meng (the culinary artist of this delicious dish) is the first-ever head chef to be awarded a Michelin star for street food. Once you’ve tried his soya chicken, it is easy to see why! Simple, affordable but popular all over the world, this is your chance to try this legendary dish cooked by the man himself.
Vegetarian Chat
If you’re vegetarian or are going meat-free for health or environmental reasons, you don’t need to worry since one of the best dishes at the festival happens to be scrumptious and without meat! Chef Manjunath has been delivering the tastes of India to Singapore at his two-time one-Michelin start restaurant for years, with this vegetarian chat being one of Singapore’s favorite Indian dishes. Full of high protein veggies and pulses, this small dish packs a real punch.
Singaporean Wok-Fried Marmite Chicken
Marmite, you either love it or you hate it right? Wrong. In this dish, you can only love it! Chef Wayne Liew from Singapore, the specialized wok-frier of the festival, mixes marmite with soy sauce to offset a sweet and stick honey to create an indulgent gravy that we can’t get enough of. Its good for the heart to have a little of what you fancy every once in a while!
Penang Curry with Beef Brisket
Penang curry is an absolute all-time favorite Thai dishes. With subtle sweetness paired with a strong kick of spice, its the better older sister of the traditional red curry we all know and love. Add in some beef brisket, however, and its taken to yet another, totally next level of delicious. If you can handle the heat, this dish from Bangkok’s Chef Eakachai Matthakji is a specialty fusion of traditional Thai and American BBQ flavors – a concept that Michelin loves and you are going to!
Barbecued Honey Glazed Iberico Pork with Pickled Cucumber Salad
Kenneth Law’s Iberico pork dish is one of the most loved signatures at Bi Ying, and is the only dish at the event varying slightly from the street food style. Wood roasted, this delicate dish is an exquisite addition to the menu that if you haven’t had time to try yet, we strongly advise that you do!
Kaeng Ho – Northern Thai Dry Pork Curry with Vermicelli
From the heart of Huen Lum Phun, a traditional family-run restaurant in northern Thailand that grew over six years from a small 20-seat eatery to 300 seats across two branches with a small boutique cafe, this dish is a famed delicacy of infamous head chef Jakkrapan Luangmool. With textures that make your mouth water just looking at it (ours are at least!) this is a zesty, spicy favorite that you’re going to want to eat all over again!
Deep-fried King Prawns stuffed with Minced Bamboo Shrimp in Sweet & Sour Sauce
Now, you may know this dish as it is created by Studio City’s very own Chef Lam Yuk Ming of the Pearl Dragon restaurant but this does not mean it should be forgotten. A Cantonese favorite known for its exquisite flavors and textures, this is one of THE seafood dishes to try.
While all eight dishes may be delicious, you probably aren’t going to be able to fit in all of this dishes. Let us know which you tried and which were your favorites in the comments below!
