The first exhibition of Ox Warehouse’s “Art-City-People” Exhibition Series, invited artist Xiaoqiao Li who is a PhD student in Visual Arts Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University now to hold a solo exhibition. His current practice explores the physical process and methodology of surface, space and memory through the crossing of medias: drawing, printmaking, photography, moving image and projection.
The exhibition “Journey-Memory-Fragment” presents videos, photography, interactive games and 3D-printed works, the multimedia display takes up the first and second floor. Over the years, Xiaoqiao strives to break through the limitations of two-dimensional art, such as the combination of photography and 3D printing in Fragment-reconstitution, an experimental work elevated by his printmaking logics and syntax.
In another work Fragment-Don’t clear, the videogame allowed the artist an alternative to communicate in digital application, as a study on how images manifest in time and space. Xiaoquao Li has considered printmaking as a creative methodology, whereas, all of his works are precisely calibrated to demonstrate a profound thesis.
