Bok Festival 2021 is organized by a non-governmental association and features an independent and indie set of events including readings, concerts, exhibitions, performances, and much more. The festival kickstarts with an opening party at 7:00pm, followed by a sound and dance multimedia performance by AWPlanet. The festival continues with a VR dance film, a poetry session, a conceptual music ambience, DJ sessions, a Chinese ink painting with music performance, among other happenings. These are all part of the Bok Movement.
The M Mode 24 is a 24-hour community art festival at the St. Lazarus Festival, and the Bok Club, a session to socialise, drink and listen to people playing music. It takes place for a whole week, from Saturday to the next Sunday. The festival’s name derives from the pronunciation of a Cantonese character that reads “bok”, meaning connecting, striving, experimenting, and trying.
