MGM had the honor to be the first integrated resort in town to support the Macao Government Tourism Office in promoting the city’s unique Macanese cuisine at the Shanghai Macao Week roadshow last month. Together with its sister company Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality, MGM hosted a two-week Taste of Macao Food Promotion at Bellagio Shanghai, bringing an array of signature Macanese and Portuguese classics to the vibrant city.
The menu showcased in Shanghai was meticulously designed by Rossio’s Chef de Cuisine Tiago Reis and Chef Redo Lo, to intrigue the city with flavors that showcases the perfect blend of East and West. To celebrate the success of this collaboration, starting from August 9, MGM Macau will bring back the much-welcomed renditions of some of the heartiest dishes of Macau’s culinary culture to Rossio for local residents to relish with friends and family. At the same time, guests may relish the experience while taking in the wondrous view of the installation art piece Valkyrie Octopus by renowned Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos in the European-inspired Grande Praça.
The Taste of Homecoming menu features the classic clams in white wine with coriander and lemon, as well as the octopus rice complemented with chef’s special bell pepper and green olive tapenade. Moreover, guests should not miss the signature specialties, Macanese crab salad with curry and cheese crust, a rendition from the traditional dish baked crab stuffed with meat. Guests who opt for the Rossio Set Menu may take advantage of exclusive privilege from an additional MOP $20* per dish to have a taste of the signature homecoming dishes. Last but not least, the fusion journey would not be complete without the cross-cultural sweet indulgence, chocolate mousse, and drunk pear with Portuguese port wine and spices, which is composed of three distinct layers of texture and flavors in every bite. What’s more, the African chicken with chili, coconut, peanut, and lemongrass from the a-la-carte is another finely tweaked specially crafted by chefs in the panoramic open kitchen, which truly delivers the taste of Macanese culinary legacy of over 450 years.
Weekend Portuguese Wine Tastings at Rossio
To indulge in the Macanese and Portuguese taste extravagance, guests can perfect their meal every Saturday night from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with a two-hour free flow of wine selection from different regions of Portugal at only MOP $150* per person. August features wine from the Lisbon region, while the Bairrada region and Vinho Verde region will be highlighted in September and October respectively. Petiscos lovers may sample the classic Portuguese entrees alongside the wine. A choice of three petiscos (Portuguese-style tapas) is priced at MOP $100*, while MOP $150* for a selection of five.
