The Macao Chinese Orchestra has invited gaohu musician Yu Lefu, who is dubbed ‘the new-generation heir of Cantonese music’, to serve as artistic director. Yu is well-versed in Cantonese music and active in the Guangdong rock music scene. It is such Chinese and Western music cultures that have imbued him with a unique insight into traditional Cantonese music. This concert features an exquisite repertoire of instrumental and ensemble music, including well-known Cantonese tunes and rarely-performed compositions which represent the colourful Lingnan culture as well as the position held by the new-generation musician towards the inheritance of Cantonese music.
