The Macau Delegation of the Orient Foundation is celebrating June, the Month of Portugal, with the cinema cycle Macau Cinema: Past and Present. This series aims to showcase the plurality and gaze of Portuguese and Macanese filmmakers, especially after the sovereignty transition to China, in 1999.
The series illustrates both the contemporary perspective from younger generations of Portuguese filmmakers like João Rui Guerra da Mata and Ivo Ferreira, who lived or revisited the city, or Rosa Coutinho Cabral, who keeps a cinematographic relationship with Macau. Cinema Macau also showcases the worries, aspirations, and sensibility of Macau filmmakers. The sessions take place at Casa Garden and Cinematheque Passion.
When: June 26–July 4, 2021
Where: Casa Garden, 13 Praça de Luís de Camões, Macau, and Cinematheque Passion, 13 Travessa da Paixão, Macau
