The annual Procession of Our Lady of Fátima recalls the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three peasant children in 1917 in Fátima, Portugal. In commemoration to that event, Macau’s Catholic devotees hold a special mass, followed by a procession that features white-robed women carrying a statue of Our Lady of Fátima through the streets of Macau. Commencing from St. Dominic’s Church, the devotees will travel through the Nam Van and Sai Van areas, until reaching Chapel of Our Lady of Penha, at the top of Penha Hill, where a solemn religious ceremony is held.
