In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, Fundação Rui Cunha is holding the exhibition Scenes of Macau. It brings together two Mainland Chinese artists, Gu Yue and Liu Shengli. They create paintings on ceramic boards, using techniques that require high temperatures. Gu Yue is known for using what are sometimes termed ‘post-modern’ means to mimic ancient or traditional Chinese painting styles. The Beijing-based Liu Shengli has won awards overseas during a career lasting more than 20 years, and has applied experimental materials and techniques to the painting and glazing of porcelain.
