There’s a point when it’s easy to feel that all doors are the same in Macau and that no matter where you go all salons and barbershops look the same, but as you walk by Rua de S. Miguel, you’ll notice that the barber’s pole in the curve of the street is different and so is the building’s facade. From the white doors with the black blinds to the clean and sharp logo, there’s this feeling growing inside: this is where I want to get a haircut and shave. It is now 2Legit (for you) to quit.
As you enter you’re greeted by chunks of hair on the floor and a playlist filled with old school hip-hop songs. All of the three barber chairs have their owner and their own story. Luís Lourenço, 2Legit’s owner, a.k.a. RockLee is the M.V.P. of the shop.

It all began when Luís started to cut his own hair. “There’s this technique called fade, in which you blend your hair with different textures, that I could never have another hairstylist to do it, so I started to cut my own hair.” Later on, Luís went to Chicago to a b-boy competition and was introduced to his mentor Ruel at his own barber shop, literally in the hood, Rockstar Fades 2. “I learned from how he cuts me, how it felt and the way he touched my hair”, he explains. But his own experience wasn’t enough so Luís started cutting other people’s hair, which allowed him to be learning constantly and challenging himself every day. “I do it because it’s my passion, I don’t do it for money. I used to cut people’s hair at my house after work and, the chair where I now cut is the same one I had there. It’s my chair.”

And that was the chair in which I sat and had one of the coolest haircuts ever. It’s one of those cases in which you have to see to believe. The precision, the care, and dedication that is put on your hair is not something you’ll find everywhere. From using several trimmers to deciding which hairstyle would suit you better, Luís is not just cutting your hair, he’s making art.
