Millions of people all over the world witnessed the wedding of the year over the weekend. Nielsen data reported that approximately 29 million people watched the Royal wedding. And, it most certainly didn’t disappoint as the internet was flooded with stories, snaps, and comments from media and royal watchers all over the globe. And why not? It’s the stuff that fairytales are made of. Prince Harry of United Kingdom married Meghan Markle, an actress and social advocate after a whirlwind romance defying many odds en route to their special day.
Many people remember Harry as a young boy during Princess Diana’s funeral. As the youngest son of the highly popular princess who conquered the hearts of many people, Harry’s love life has been followed intensely by media through the years. When his engagement to Meghan Markle was officially announced last year, it brought great joy to many fans of the Royal family to finally see the Prince find peace and love.

Meghan Markle’s stunning Givenchy gown took spectators by surprise. Designed by Clare Waight Keller, her delicate veil featured flowers from all 53 countries of the commonwealth as a tribute. Two extra flowers were also added. The California Poppy representing California, and the Wintersweet, which grows in the grounds of Kensington Palace in front of Nottingham Cottage. It is believed to be a little nod to the Queen, who has welcomed Meghan into the Royal family loaning her the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau Tiara for the special day.
Princess Diana was not forgotten as Meghan’s bridal bouquet handpicked by Prince Harry featured a beautiful arrangement of forget-me-nots which was the Princess of Wales’ favorite flower from the private garden of Kensington Palace.
As Meghan reached the altar, Prince Harry was caught reminding his bride just how stunning she looked, whispering, “You look amazing. I’m so lucky.” The couple was captured holding hands throughout the ceremony which was a rare show of affection for royals in the public eye.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s celebrity friends showed up for the nuptials, including Serena Williams, David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John, and Suits co-stars. Priyanka Chopra, Oprah, George and Amal Clooney were also in attendance at the momentous event. However, it was Prince Harry’s two ex-girlfriends that caught the public’s curiosity. Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas were present at the wedding. It’s been reported that Prince Harry maintains a friendship with the two ladies despite their past relationship.
The newlyweds received new titles. Just hours before the wedding, Queen Elizabeth II announced that Harry is now His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex, making Meghan Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.
