What Are You Thinking? Picture Book by Un Chi Wai

Taipa Village Cultural Association is proud to present their first solo exhibition entitled “What Are You Thinking? Picture Book by Un Chi Wai” created by talented Macau illustration artist Un Chi Wai. The exhibition showcases a self-published picture book which addresses daydreaming–a normal phenomenon occurring in everyone’s daily life including both children and adults. The storyline of this picture book has an open ending that’s subject to the reader’s own interpretation and imagination, hence making it an entertaining reading experience for parents and grownups.

Israeli Pop-Up: Imperial Craft x Vida Rica
This pop-up is a block party presented by chef Aliran Samorai and mixologist Shauli Edelman from Tel Aviv. Hidden within the Imperial Hotel of Tel Aviv, Imperial Craft Cocktail Bar is a creation of veteran bartenders of the city, to create a temple to the lost art of the cocktail. Guest chef Aliran Samorai and bartender Shauli Edelman will present a menu related to the heart of the city itself to the discerning visitors of the pop-up.

Art Macao: International Art Exhibition
As the main venue of “Art Macao: International Art Exhibition”, the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) showcases artworks selected by hotels and integrated resorts, seeking to reveal the charm of contemporary visual arts in a variety of forms, including paintings, ceramic, sculptures, interactive installations and multimedia. Under the theme of “diversity”, it showcases the reality of social culture and artistic creation through crossover cooperation. By joining forces, several different hotels and properties lent their own art pieces in exhibition for MAM to show all, in a single place, several art forms from different epochs and times.
The exhibition showcases works by Caroline Yi Cheng, Thilo Heinzmann, Herb Alpert, Refik Anadol, Gabrielle Wambaugh, Jennifer Wen Ma, Vipoo Srivilasa, Wu Guanzhong, Stéphane Bolongaro, Wang Dongling, Jason Walker, Paulo Corte-Real and many others. From video installations to painted murals, sculptures to paintings and so on, there is an array of contemporary art pieces to enjoy and appreciate in an exhibition really worth your while.

Kirill Gerstein and The Macao Orchestra
Celebrating Romanticism, Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Macao Orchestra, Lu Jia, joins hands with renowned pianist Kirill Gerstein to present the fabulous “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini”, in a wonderful dialogue between two generations of piano virtuosos. In the second part of the concert, Macao Orchestra will perform Schubert’s “Ninth Symphony”, a work that embodies the maintenance and and the rebirth of the classical tradition in the Romantic period. A much-anticipated performance!
The concert features Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 in C Major, “The Great”. Rachmaninoff offers a wonderful dialogue between two generations of virtuoso piano masters and Schubert’s work embodied the continuation and renaissance of the classical tradition in the romantic period and the peak of poetry and imagination in Schubert’s late works.

Light Night Market at Fisherman’s Wharf
Light Night Market at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf is definitely suitable for families and groups of friends. It features a traditional teahouse, and a food street that measures 95 metres in length. The market includes a variety of events such as a vintage-toy exhibition, dragon and lion dance displays, a vintage car party, a parent-child vintage fashion show and access to amenities including an inflatable castle for children over the course of its five-month residence.

A celebration of achievements and excellence in the bar community featuring a series of renowned bartenders showcasing the best of cocktails. Presented by four international bar teams that include Tep Bar, Jigger and Pony, Coley and Imperial Craft.
Started by Tron Young in 2014 in Singapore, The Bar Awards expanded to the neighboring cities Hong Kong (in 2016), as well as Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur in 2017 in light of the cocktail and better bar culture sweeping across the region in recent years.

Splendid China: The Macao Chinese Orchestra Season Closing Concert
Under the baton of Music Director and Principal Conductor of The Macao Chinese Orchestra, Liu Sha, this season closing concert kicks off with “Cantonese Classics”, a piece of Chinese traditional music featuring elements of Guangdong music. It is written in a concerto for orchestra, highlighting the superb playing technique of the orchestra.
This is followed by the world premiere of Fantasy for Macao No. 2, a suona concerto commissioned by the Macao Chinese Orchestra to famous composer Kuan Nai-chung, which is themed on the land and the ocean. Fantasy for Macao No. 2 is based upon elements of the “saltwater song” popularized among the boat dwellers and of the traditional Portuguese folk music, conveying the aspirations of the Chinese and Portuguese for peace and happiness.
