Set along the same street of the Macao Polytechnic Institute, the Macao Grand Prix Museum pays homage to the world-renowned automobile competition circuit taking place in Macau every year. Running since 1954, it tells the story of this happening showing details and some heirloom items such as cars, motorcycles, suits and more. The Macao Grand Prix Museum tells the story of this internationally-known race through a detailed timeline, featuring the name of drivers, car models and more.
The Grand Prix Museum contains exhibits that are related to Grand Prix worldwide including photos, videos, illustrated articles, cups, records of champions and some commemorative items. It is co-located with and adjacent to the Macau Wine Museum. The museum was revamped and reopened in 2021, allowing visitors to see these relics framed into a venue designed with modern and slick lines.
The museum’s basement features information on the Guia Race and the Macau GT Cup, also equipped with the screening room. First floor is dedicated to the Macau Grand Prix’s early years and Formula 3. The third and last floor integrates info on the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix–one of the most dangerous races in the world–and includes a Moto VR (virtual reality) race experience for all to try out and feel the rush of this competition.
The Grand Prix Museum is a nice place to visit with kids and sports fans. There are interactive exhibitions and other activities for kids to do as well. They also offer guided tours in English, Portuguese, Cantonese and Mandarin and schedules can be checked here. For inquiries on the tour guides, call +853 8593 0515 or +853 8593 0516.
