One of Macau’s most visited museums, Macao Maritime Museum is located in Barra Square, opposite to the famous A-Ma Temple.
The museum sums up a variety of stories, from the development of the fishing industry and boat construction to the early Portuguese exploration of Macau and within the context of greater South China. It is divided into four different areas: maritime ethnology, maritime history, maritime technology, and the aquarium. The latter is a gallery of four aquariums, each representing a specific sub-aquatic environment where different species of fish can be observed.
Visitors will find a number of exhibits including fishing tools, boat models, maps and scale dioramas. The Macao Maritime Museum is definitely a must-visit and one of our choices when it comes to what to do in town with kids. It provides an educational yet fun experience!
