Oden Studio is a Japanese restaurant in Macau named after the kind of food it serves: considered the first restaurant of its kind in Hong Kong and Macau, it specializes in delicacies from the Kanto region. Oden Studio’s owners and staff are Japanese, which makes it authentic. Oden cuisine is a kind of nabemono–Japanese one-pot dishes–and usually includes ingredients like boiled egg, daikon (Japanese radish), konjac, and processed fishcakes stewed in soy-flavored dashi broth.
Besides MSG-free, the products served in Oden Studio come mainly from Japan and some of their ingredients–like kelp and bonito fish–are cooked in soups that boil for 16 hours. They also serve several matcha-based dishes, especially desserts. This is the ideal place to grab a truly and traditional Japanese meal with regional inspirations. The space is small, fits few people and it’s only open for dinner, although it closes late, at 1:00am.
Oden Studio is a 10-minutes walking distance from Kiang Wu Hospital and Camões Garden, close to Lin Kai Temple, Wing Lok Cinema and The Joy of Living Café.
Opening hours: Monday–Saturday, 5:30pm–1:00am
