The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) is a successor of the College of St. Paul, founded in 1594. Jointly organized by the Catholic University of Portugal and the Diocese of Macau, USJ offers a wide variety of courses ranging from the humanities to the social and technological sciences.
New courses are regularly being added in order to keep the pace with the most recent academic and scientific advances in the modern world. There are programs for certificates, diplomas, licentiate (undergraduate/bachelor’s), master’s and doctoral degrees, and also some interesting language programs which include the teaching of Mandarin Chinese, English, Japanese, French, Russian, and Portuguese. Some of the most sought after courses in the university are Graphic Design, Architecture and Communications.
The University of Saint Joseph is divided across the Macau peninsula, with campuses in Ilha Verde (northern part of the city), NAPE area and close to the city centre. The latter is the seminary, where people who want to become members of the clergy go to study.
