Coral Trails, by Sam Francis
This 1986 canvas is one of Art Macao’s few pieces that don’t exactly reflect a contemporary art scene. There were some other exhibitions focusing on different periods of time, but the remaining are essentially modern. If you are looking to add some history to your art tour, check out Coral Trails. Part of a series by Sam Francis (an explosion of color harmonized through form and shape), the viewer is confronted with gardens of color, the chaos of colors clearly pointing to Abstract Expressionism. However, there is also something Japanese about it. Francis is known as one of the first post-World War II painters to develop an international reputation.
