Dubbed as the culinary capital of Asia, Hong Kong takes pride in an ample and readily available supply of food imported from all over the world. We cannot, however, mask the reality that the world is on the brink of a major food crisis that is projected to take place during our lifetime.
For the first time ever in Hong Kong on such a large scale, the Food’s Future Summit aims to bring together a host of industry change-makers, conscious consumers and cutting-edge experts to tackle pertinent questions about the future of our food.
Over the course of one day, through a series of interactive panels and plenaries, Foodie’s Summit will discuss the latest food innovations, upcoming trends and imminent issues in the culinary world.
The morning session of Foodie’s Summit will provide a wide-ranging examination of the critical issues associated with food’s future, covering topics such as The Big Picture—where experts such as Richard Brubaker, Founder, Collective Responsibility and Adjunct Professor, China Europe International Business School (Shanghai), will outline our foodsecurity situation and the related crisis; The Big Gamble—where venture capitalists and investors including Joseph Zhou, Partner at Bits x Bites Accelerator and VC, will offer a sneak peek at the next big food trends and growth areas; and Dining in 2020—where industry insiders such as Nicola Tang from CBRE, the world’s largest real estate service provider, will discuss consumer dining trajectories and opportunities. Foodie’s own editor-in-chief, Alicia Walker, will also moderate a panel of F&B industry experts from Hong Kong including Christopher Mark, Culinary Director, Black Sheep Restaurants, and James Sharman, the co-founder of One Star House Party. Post-lunch, a series of fireside chats and roundtables will take a more in-depth, interactive look at some of the most pertinent and promising food trends and innovations, including urban farming, edible insects, reducing food waste, sustainable ocean health, meat alternatives and other dining “disrupters”. The afternoon Showcase/Market will offer a firsthand preview of what our culinary future may hold, with selected companies showcasing the latest and most promising F&B inventions, products and services.
