Embark on a journey to explore the beauty of Chinese embroidery through exquisite imperial carpets and costumes from the Story of Yanxi Palace. The MGM Cotai Art Collection features 300 captivating and thought-provoking pieces, which seamlessly integrate with the resort’s public spaces.
MGM presents an “Art Tour of Imperial Carpets”, a curated tour to take you on a journey to discover the rich beauty of Chinese antique carpets, inspired by the set design of the highly acclaimed drama “Story of Yanxi Palace”. The tour continues with a display of exquisitely crafted costumes from the show.
Silk and metal-thread carpets have always served as the essential decorations in the Forbidden City in Beijing, back since the time of Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1911). Nowadays, there are only 300 pieces of known Chinese imperial carpet left in public and private collections worldwide, of which 28 are currently displayed in MGM Cotai. This curated tour will give guests the chance to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship of these pieces and learn about the historical symbolism behind such precious collections.
In addition, MGM has also launched a special dim sum menu paired with a selection of Chinese tea, which will run for the period of the event. Guests will be able to feast like an ancient emperor at Imperial Court at MGM Macau and Chun at MGM Cotai.
