The Marine and Water Bureau Day is held on July 18, and there are range of exciting celebration activities throughout the month, including free admission to the Guia Lighthouse and the Maritime Museum. Save the dates and learn more about the maritime history of this city! This year, Guia Lighthouse Open Days are on July 11 and 12 (Saturday and Sunday) and are admission free.
This is your chance to visit the interior of the Guia Lighthouse where admission is usually not allowed! Visitors can also go to the top of the Lighthouse and enjoy a panoramic view of Macau! The Lighthouse also exhibits the ancient tradition of maritime signaling flags and lighthouse signals system used in Macau. Grab the opportunity to learn more about the history and functions of the Guia Lighthouse.
The Maritime Museum is divided into several exhibition areas: Maritime Ethnology, Maritime History and Maritime Technology. Here you can enjoy exhibitions about the traditions and art of the fishermen of Macau, as well as other regions of South China; the Portuguese and Chinese maritime history from the 15th to the 17th centuries; maritime technology and transport, dredging and navigation, etc. Don’t forget to head to the Esplanade of the museum for International Maritime Signal Flags exhibit during the event!
